 "Ding dong—"

Luo Wei was engrossed in reading a prenatal book on the sofa when the doorbell rang. She put the book aside and got up to answer the door. As soon as she opened it, she was greeted by the handsome face of Gu Xiu.

“Dr. Gu, you’re here,” Luo Wei greeted him with a smile, clearly in a good mood.

Looking past Gu Xiu, Luo Wei noticed Xu Kaifeng standing beside him, his tall figure casting a shadow over her.

“Assistant Xu, you’re here too. Come in,” Luo Wei said, stepping aside to let them in.

Gu Xiu entered first, followed closely by Xu Kaifeng. Once inside, Gu Xiu looked around calmly and asked, “How’s the baby doing lately?”

Luo Wei lightly patted her belly and proudly replied, “Very well, no need to worry.”

Gu Xiu glanced down at her stomach and smiled slightly. “That’s good. Here’s some medication for the pregnancy.”

He handed Luo Wei a white bag. Luo Wei frowned and thought for a few seconds, “Pregnancy medication?”

Gu Xiu smiled and explained, “Young Master Mo asked me to specifically bring you some supplements. You’re too thin, and now that you’re pregnant, you should eat more nutritious food.”

Realization dawned on Luo Wei. “Thank you,” she said, taking the white bag from him.

“Mo Huai is working in the study right now. Should I call him down?” Luo Wei asked, placing the bag in a cabinet and turning back to them.

“No need,” Xu Kaifeng spoke first. “I’ll go find him.”

“Yes, it’s important that he handles his work. There’s no need to bother him,” Gu Xiu agreed.

“Alright then, have some water,” Luo Wei said, heading to the kitchen to pour two glasses of water, which she placed on the coffee table.

“Thank you,” Gu Xiu said, taking a small sip.

Xu Kaifeng tightened his grip on the document he was holding and then strode toward the study.

“Mr. Mo, this is the detailed acquisition plan for the Luo Corporation. Please have a look,” Xu Kaifeng said, placing the document on the desk.

Mo Huai’s eyes remained focused on the computer screen as he continued typing away. After a few seconds, he shifted his gaze to the contract on the desk. He picked it up and flipped through it page by page. After a few minutes, he set the document down.

“I want to hear about the Luo Corporation’s bankruptcy within a week,” Mo Huai’s clear voice rang out, devoid of any warmth.

“Understood, Mr. Mo,” Xu Kaifeng nodded.

Mo Huai signed the contract with his name, and Xu Kaifeng took the document before heading downstairs.

Luo Wei was sitting on the sofa, nibbling on a pear. When she heard footsteps, she turned around excitedly. “All done?”

Xu Kaifeng nodded, “Yes.” He glanced at the man sitting in the single-seater, frowning slightly as he thought to himself, Why is he still here?

Seeing Xu Kaifeng come down, Gu Xiu stood up and smiled gently. “Shall we go?”

Suddenly, Gu Xiu seemed to remember something. He turned to Luo Wei and said, “Mo Huai can be quite...unpredictable. Though it’s been over three months, it’s still better to be gentle and careful.”

Luo Wei blinked, about to ask what he meant, but she didn’t quite catch the meaning behind Dr. Gu’s words.

“You can leave now,” Mo Huai’s tall figure appeared as he descended the stairs, his voice low and indifferent.

Xu Kaifeng and Gu Xiu exchanged a glance, understanding each other’s intentions as they left the Supreme Mansion.

Just as they stepped outside, Xu Kaifeng asked curiously, “You didn’t purposely wait to leave with me, did you?”

Gu Xiu didn’t deny it, instead, he openly admitted, “Yes, my car broke down, and I didn’t want to take a taxi, so…”

A mischievous smile played on Gu Xiu’s face. Xu Kaifeng pursed his lips but said nothing.

In the cramped car, Gu Xiu idly scrolled through his phone while Xu Kaifeng started the engine.

“What’s your address?” Xu Kaifeng asked coolly.

Gu Xiu gave him the address and fastened his seatbelt. Xu Kaifeng drove toward the destination.

After a while, the car stopped outside the Gu family mansion. Gu Xiu unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to Xu Kaifeng, “Thanks, brother.”

With that, Gu Xiu got out of the car, waved, and walked into the mansion. Xu Kaifeng chuckled softly, but his eyes caught something unusual. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a wallet.

Bending down, Xu Kaifeng picked up the wallet from the seat. His long fingers traced the surface of the wallet, and out of curiosity, he opened it. In the first compartment was a photo of Gu Xiu wearing a school uniform, smiling brightly, a young and innocent look on his face.

Xu Kaifeng couldn’t help but notice this different side of Gu Xiu. His usual impression of Gu Xiu was that of a cool and refined doctor. But now, in the photo, he seemed somewhat...silly. A deeper smile formed on Xu Kaifeng’s face as he pocketed the wallet, started the engine, and drove toward his home.

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Mo Huai had just reached the staircase when he overheard Gu Xiu’s advice to the girl. It was clear she hadn’t understood what he meant.

Mo Huai’s expression darkened. As an adult, he fully grasped the implication, but Luo Wei, being so innocent, hadn’t caught on to Gu Xiu’s underlying message.

After Gu Xiu and Xu Kaifeng left, Luo Wei walked up to Mo Huai, her face full of innocence as she asked, “What did Dr. Gu mean by what he said?”

Mo Huai cleared his throat, trying to keep his emotions in check. “He meant that I shouldn’t press on you while sleeping.”

“Oh,” Luo Wei smiled, “I’m very well-behaved when I sleep. I won’t press on you, I promise.”

She patted her chest with a playful grin.

“Mm, I know you’ve always been well-behaved, so...” Mo Huai bent down to meet her eyes, gently stroking her hair.

“So what?” Luo Wei asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.

So I’ve managed to hold out for three months, sleeping beside a sweet, soft girl every night, he thought, recalling the number of cold showers he’d had to take. But he didn’t say that out loud. Instead, he simply said, “So your sleeping posture is really good.”

“Of course!” Luo Wei said proudly, her expression full of self-satisfaction.

Mo Huai smiled knowingly, his eyes narrowing in amusement.

Luo Wei gently stroked her belly and playfully asked, “Baby, can you hear me now? Daddy just praised me.”

She beamed with happiness, her mood lifted.

Mo Huai wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his embrace. Her small, soft body fell into his chest, and Luo Wei’s face instantly flushed as she heard his heartbeat.

The scent of sandalwood emanated from Mo Huai, sending ripples through Luo Wei’s heart.

“Is your work finished?” Luo Wei lazily traced patterns on his chest with her fingers, her voice relaxed.

“Mm,” Mo Huai’s deep voice replied, sounding incredibly sexy.

“Was it difficult?” Luo Wei asked absentmindedly.

“Not at all,” Mo Huai answered patiently, occasionally kissing the top of her head.
