After Luo Qianqian left the bank, she called the so-called Boss Gao in advance and transferred the money to the account he provided.
Once the money was sent, Luo Qianqian gradually calmed down, now with more than a million left. A smug smile played on her lips as she walked with a spring in her step to a luxury store for a shopping spree.
After shopping, she returned to the Luo family, hands full of shopping bags, slightly out of breath. As she stepped through the front door, she saw Zhu Shulan sitting solemnly on the sofa.
Luo Qianqian's expression flashed with surprise, and she tried to sneak in quietly. But after only a few steps, Zhu Shulan turned her head.
Zhu Shulan glanced at her and asked indifferently, "Where have you been?"
Luo Qianqian quickly walked over and sat down in front of her. "Mom, I just went out for a stroll."
Zhu Shulan eyed the shopping bags in her hand and scolded, "You went to Chanel again? You must have spent a lot on all these things. Where did you get the money?"
Luo Qianqian, feeling stifled, frowned and muttered, "A friend gave it to me."
"Which friend?"
Annoyed by her nagging, Luo Qianqian cursed inwardly and, after a moment, replied, "A college classmate you've never met."
"Qianqian, you know the situation our family is in. You shouldn't spend money unnecessarily," Zhu Shulan advised earnestly.
Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes. If she hadn't stolen the money, would Zhu Shulan have given it to her to spend?
Feeling increasingly irritated, Luo Qianqian didn’t want to hear any more of her preaching. "Mom, I'm really tired. I'm going to my room now," she said casually before heading upstairs.
Once in her room, Luo Qianqian began organizing the clothes and jewelry she had just bought. She pulled out her phone and sent a message in a group chat.
"Brothers and sisters, shall we hang out tomorrow?"
Everyone in the group knew exactly what she meant by "hang out," and the chat soon buzzed with excitement.
"Count me in! I'm in for the whole day tomorrow."
"Qianqian, let's meet at noon sharp, woohoo!"
"I'm in too. Let's do this."
"Darn, I'll join when I have the money. Boohoo..."
Luo Qianqian tossed her phone aside and curled up on the bed, eagerly anticipating tomorrow.
Mo Huai sat at his desk, his long fingers tapping away on the keyboard. Beneath his deep, dark eyes, a pair of gold-rimmed glasses rested on his nose. His sharply defined features and chiseled jawline were particularly captivating.
Despite his expressionless face, Mo Huai was intensely focused. After a while, there was a knock on the door.
"Knock, knock—"
Mo Huai paused his work and said, "Come in."
The door was gently pushed open, and Luo Wei peeked her head in, grinning widely.
A smile tugged at Mo Huai’s lips. "What's up?" His voice was lazy and enticing.
Luo Wei giggled as she walked in. "I made some tea for you. Want to take a break?"
She placed the tea on the desk, and Mo Huai stared at her intently, his gaze unreadable.
"Did you just come in to deliver tea?" Mo Huai asked, slightly lifting the gold-rimmed glasses from his nose.
Luo Wei hesitated. She hadn’t come in just to bring tea. The house was enormous, and she was all alone. The housekeeper, Wang Ma, had taken leave to go back to her hometown, leaving Luo Wei feeling incredibly bored. So, she often found herself wanting to "bother" Mo Huai, otherwise she felt like she would go stir-crazy.
Still, even though she missed him, her original intention had only been to drop off the tea and kill some time, not to take up too much of his work time.
Despite her true thoughts, she said, "Yes, I wanted some tea, so I made some and brought it to you to try."
She tried to sound convincing. "You...you can get back to work. I've got plenty to keep me busy too. I still have a lot of prenatal books I haven’t finished reading."
Mo Huai’s gaze softened with amusement as he looked at her.
Luo Wei's cheeks flushed slightly, and she turned her head away. "I’ll just head out..."
Before she could finish, she was suddenly pulled into his arms. The pleasant scent of sandalwood from his body made her momentarily dazed.
"I..." Luo Wei stammered, at a loss for words.
Mo Huai narrowed his eyes, tapping her nose lightly with his finger. "I'm sorry I’ve been so busy with work all day that I’ve neglected you."
Luo Wei hesitated, but before she could say anything, he interrupted.
"I missed you," Mo Huai murmured, his voice husky and rich, his tone so tender it was almost tangible.
Luo Wei's heart raced like a deer caught in headlights, her cheeks turning crimson, as if she was boiled like a shrimp.
"I..." Luo Wei, now thoroughly flustered, found herself sitting in his lap, a highly suggestive position.
Mo Huai gazed at her flushed face, feeling a surge of heat. The sight of her fair neck and the subtle fragrance she exuded made him want to take a bite.
Luo Wei squirmed in his arms, sometimes shifting her position, sometimes burying her face in the crook of his neck, and sometimes tracing circles on his chest with her slender fingers.
"Stop moving," Mo Huai commanded sternly, his breathing growing heavier.
Luo Wei looked up in surprise, sticking out her tongue instinctively—a gesture that Mo Huai found even more irresistible.
"S-sorry...I didn’t mean to," Luo Wei stammered, her face now as red as a blazing cloud, quickly springing off his lap.
She steadied herself, clearing her throat. "I’ll head back now."
Luo Wei hurriedly said this and then quickly fled the study.
Mo Huai’s expression darkened as he struggled to suppress his desires. Although Gu Xiu had said that it would be fine after three months...
He was still worried about hurting the baby, so he didn’t dare act recklessly. Having a delicious cake right in front of him, yet being unable to eat it, was an excruciating feeling only those who had experienced it could understand.
After a moment, Mo Huai’s emotions gradually settled, and he refocused on the computer screen.
It was time to expose Luo Jianguo’s plot.
Mo Huai turned, picked up his phone with his well-defined fingers, and dialed out.
The person on the other end picked up immediately, addressing him with a soft "Mr. Mo."
"Is the report ready?" Mo Huai asked.
Xu Kaifeng was momentarily stunned before quickly responding, "It’s been ready for a while."
Mr. Mo had instructed him to prepare a report on Luo Jianguo, as well as on the mysteries surrounding Ms. Luo and the Luo family’s eldest daughter. He had compiled everything by the next day.
"Good," Mo Huai said with satisfaction. "Keep this matter a secret from Weiwei for now. I’m afraid she won’t be able to handle the truth."
"Understood."
Mo Huai absentmindedly played with the cup, the crisp tapping sound echoing in the study as his gaze turned sharp.
"Tomorrow, go find Zhu Shulan and tell her the truth," Mo Huai said with a triumphant smile, his cold voice ringing out.
Xu Kaifeng was silent for a few seconds before replying, "Understood." Mr. Mo was ruthless. His first target for revenge was Zhu Shulan, ensuring she would regret everything she had done.
There was no medicine for regret in this world, and Mr. Mo intended for Zhu Shulan to live with guilt for the rest of her life.
After giving a few more instructions, Mo Huai ended the call, stood up, a faint smile on his lips, and headed toward where the girl had gone.
