Mrs. Chi's face grew increasingly grim as she spoke up in Zhu Shulan's defense, "I knew something was off these past few days when Qianqian didn't come to visit you. Jianguo has gone too far."

Tears streamed down Zhu Shulan's cheeks as she choked out, "I owe Weiwei an apology."

Mrs. Chi sighed. "If Weiwei knew the truth, I doubt she could handle it."

"Weiwei has had such a hard life," Mrs. Chi shook her head in helplessness.

Hearing this, Zhu Shulan cried even harder, drawing the attention of other patients in the ward.

"Shulan, stop crying," Mrs. Chi comforted her, gently patting her back.

After a while, Zhu Shulan stopped crying, her eyes filled with determination as she looked at Mrs. Chi. "Do you think Weiwei will forgive me?"

Mrs. Chi hesitated before finally speaking, "She will. Right now, your main priority is to take care of your health. The doctor said your emotions have been unstable, and you also have high blood pressure. You need to stay in the hospital for a few more days, so try not to think too much."

Mrs. Chi's expression was troubled. Fate was truly playing tricks on them—after raising a daughter for over twenty years, it turned out that she was the daughter of her rival, while her biological daughter...

It was as if Zhu Shulan had taken a calming pill; she gradually regained her composure.

A deep voice came from outside the door.

"Mom."

Mrs. Chi turned around and smiled, "You're here. Come on in."

Chi Yu stepped up to the bedside with a gentle smile. "Aunt Zhu, how are you feeling?"

Zhu Shulan touched her face, as if trying to wipe away the traces of her tears. "Ah Yu, thank you for coming to visit Aunt Zhu. I'm feeling much better now, thank you."

"Oh, don't mention it. Young people should stay active. Besides, he's not that busy with work," Mrs. Chi said with a smile, explaining on his behalf.

"Aunt Zhu, I had the housekeeper prepare some soup. Would you like some?" Chi Yu glanced at her, then placed the soup on the table and served it in a bowl.

"Thank you," Zhu Shulan's eyes filled with emotion. She felt incredibly grateful that someone was here to take care of her, even if it wasn't a family member.

After finishing the soup, Zhu Shulan soon drifted off to sleep.

Chi Yu pulled Mrs. Chi out of the hospital room, asking in confusion, "Mom, what's wrong with Aunt Zhu?"

When Chi Yu received Mrs. Chi's call, he didn't have a chance to ask for details. Hearing she was hospitalized, he rushed to the hospital as quickly as possible.

Mrs. Chi's expression was heavy as she sat down on a chair in the hospital corridor. She sighed before slowly recounting the events.

Chi Yu listened with a furrowed brow. After understanding the situation, he remained in a daze, struggling to process everything.

After a long pause, Chi Yu finally spoke, "Mom, are you sure about this?"

"I wish it weren't true. Then Weiwei's suffering wouldn't have been in vain," Mrs. Chi sighed.

Chi Yu leaned against the wall in disappointment, his gaze deep and contemplative.

Her image flashed through his mind, and he couldn't help but smile slightly. Even though she had rejected him, he wasn't ready to give up.

He had never failed to get what he wanted, and he silently vowed that one day she would return to his side.

Supreme Mansion.

Night had fallen, and stars twinkled in the sky as Luo Wei stood on the balcony, gazing at them while enjoying the gentle breeze.

Suddenly, she was pulled into someone's embrace from behind. Luo Wei lowered her eyes, a smile playing on her lips.

The man's warm breath caressed the nape of her neck, his breathing surrounding her ears.

Her cheeks tingled pleasantly.

"Is it cold outside?" the man's deep, husky voice sounded, incredibly alluring.

Luo Wei shook her head, pouting slightly as she replied, "No, it's not."

She was tightly held in his arms, his body warmth spreading through her, sending ripples through her heart.

Luo Wei closed her eyes instinctively, silently letting him hold her.

Time ticked by, and after a while, Mo Huai spoke, "There's something I want to tell you."

Luo Wei was silent for a few seconds before turning her head to listen carefully, "What is it?"

"It's about the Luo family. If you don't want to hear it, I won't say anything," Mo Huai's voice was so gentle it seemed to drip with sweetness.

Luo Wei hesitated for a moment before replying, "Go ahead."

She had already given up on the Luo family. The news about them no longer stirred any emotions within her; the two million dollars had severed their emotional ties.

Mo Huai lowered his eyes and spoke after a long pause, "You're not the adopted daughter of the Luo family. You are their biological daughter. It was all a scheme by Luo Jianguo."

Luo Wei frowned, her mouth agape. "What?"

Mo Huai held her tightly in his arms and calmly explained, "Luo Qianqian is the daughter of Luo Jianguo and his lover. You two were born on the same day. Luo Qianqian took your place, and Luo Jianguo deceived Zhu Shulan into believing you were adopted."

Luo Wei's body trembled, and after a moment of hesitation, she asked, "Does she know the truth?"

Mo Huai knew who she was referring to. "Yes, Assistant Xu has already informed her."

Luo Wei let out a bitter laugh. This huge mix-up—it turned out she was the biological daughter.

All those years, Zhu Shulan had looked down on and mocked her for being adopted, and now the truth was out. But it didn't matter anymore.

Seeing that Luo Wei remained silent, Mo Huai assumed she was deeply affected and gently comforted her, "Weiwei, if you want to go back and find her, I will support you, okay?"

Mo Huai knew she had lacked maternal love since childhood and had suffered greatly in pursuit of it. Although he despised the Luo family, he would always stand by her side if it made her happy.

"Go back?" Luo Wei forced a bitter smile and shook her head. "What would be the point? I don't care anymore. Maternal love isn't something I necessarily need. I'm content with having you all now."

Mo Huai gazed at her tenderly, his eyes full of affection. He asked softly, "Are you sure you don't care?"

"Yes," Luo Wei nodded firmly, her eyes resolute as if she had finally found peace. "I don't care anymore."

Mo Huai smiled and whispered, "I'll always be here for you."

Luo Wei's eyes sparkled with a smile. His words were something she would remember forever, a secret she would keep in her heart.

"It's getting colder. Let's go inside," Mo Huai suddenly released her and took her hand.

"Okay," Luo Wei agreed.

Before she could react, Mo Huai scooped her up in his arms.

"Put me down! It's only a few steps..." Luo Wei bashfully pounded her small fists against his chest.

The man seemed oblivious and continued carrying her toward the second floor.

At that moment, Aunt Wang came out of the kitchen. Luo Wei awkwardly smiled and greeted her, "Good night, Aunt Wang."

Aunt Wang gave them a knowing smile, her cheeks puffing up, "Good night, Young Master, Weiwei."

Luo Wei returned the greeting, "Good night."

As Mo Huai carried her up to the second floor, Luo Wei whispered in his ear, "Put me down. Aunt Wang is already teasing me..."

The man remained unresponsive, his demeanor cold and dignified.

Luo Wei's cheeks flushed red, and she pouted, "Hey... hey..."

Before she could finish her sentence, the man silenced her with a kiss.
