Li's Group Office
Li Kun sat in his office, lighting a cigarette and taking a deep drag, his face showing anger. “What’s going on? I pay you, and you give me nothing but empty promises.”
The general manager beside him kept his head down, not daring to breathe a word.
Li Kun hadn’t expected that the Mo Group branch would initiate a contract termination, and the chain reaction led other companies to also refuse to renew contracts, resulting in Li’s Group facing a liquidity crisis.
“Can the company survive this crisis?” Li Kun's eyes flared with anger, his voice dropping cold, veins bulging on his forehead.
The manager, trembling, opened his mouth, “I’m afraid...”
“Afraid of what?” Li Kun roared, “I pay you a high salary every month, and this is what you can do? Useless, useless!”
Li Kun grabbed a document from his desk and threw it at the manager. The manager, frightened, stood still and did not dodge.
Li Kun slammed the desk and shouted, “Get out!”
The manager, relieved to hear this, quickly fled the office.
Li Kun, full of worry, stubbed out his cigarette and slowly exhaled a puff of smoke, the room filled with the haze.
“Ding ding—” The phone on the desk rang with a pleasant tone.
Li Kun, irritated, picked up the phone and saw that it was a call from Luo Qianqian.
Li Kun sneered and hung up decisively, cursing internally, “That woman.”
Who would have thought that the girl was actually Mo Huai’s wife? It’s his own fault for not recognizing her importance; now the company he built is collapsing, and he feels deeply tormented.
Why did he have to get involved with that troublemaker, Luo Qianqian? He regretted it immensely.
At noon, Li Kun drove to the Mo Group building.
After some thought, he gathered his courage and stepped into the Mo Group lobby.
“Who are you looking for?” The security guard, seeing him acting suspiciously, questioned sharply.
Li Kun awkwardly smiled, “I’m looking for Mr. Mo.”
The security guard, with a cold attitude, didn’t look at him and thought to himself that Mr. Mo had been working from home for months and hadn’t been in the office. Judging by his appearance, he must be here to cause trouble.
The security guard responded dismissively, “Do you have an appointment?”
“No... no.”
“Mr. Mo won’t see you. You’d better leave, or we’ll be less polite.”
Li Kun, with a serious expression, begged the security guard for leniency, “Please, I need to see Mr. Mo. Please help me.”
The security guard sneered, “Just leave, no more nonsense.” He began to push Li Kun towards the door.
Li Kun didn’t want to give up this opportunity; the company he had painstakingly built was his life's work. Without it, he would be a failure.
“Please... please,” Li Kun begged, struggling against the security guard who was blocking his way.
At this moment, Xu Kaifeng was about to go out for social engagements and heard the commotion at the lobby entrance. He stopped in his tracks.
Li Kun also saw him, pushed the security guard away with force, and stumbled to Xu Kaifeng, “Assistant Xu.”
Xu Kaifeng, in a sharp suit, curved his lips, “Mr. Li, what brings you here? Do you need my presence?”
Li Kun, seeing Xu Kaifeng was willing to speak with him, instantly showed a smile, “Assistant Xu, please, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have had a dispute with Young Master Mo’s wife. I…”
Li Kun looked embarrassed, pale, and exhausted.
Xu Kaifeng smiled lightly, mocking, “Mr. Li, isn’t it too late to apologize now? You should have known better.”
Xu Kaifeng’s lips curled into a cold smile as he patted Li Kun’s shoulder.
Li Kun, terrified, grabbed Xu Kaifeng’s hand, “Assistant Xu, I need to see Mr. Mo. Please, I beg you.”
Li Kun pleaded with a voice that was a far cry from his usual arrogant demeanor.
Xu Kaifeng forcefully brushed off Li Kun’s hand and narrowed his eyes, “Does Mr. Li not know? Mr. Mo has long stopped working in the office. What Mr. Mo has decided will not change. You know how Mr. Mo operates. I’m just a minor assistant and can’t make decisions. Please leave.”
Xu Kaifeng didn’t want to waste more time with him and gave the order to remove him.
With a wave of his hand, two people came over and roughly threw Li Kun out.
“From now on, he is not allowed to be seen in the company,” Xu Kaifeng instructed the security guard, brushing off his sleeves and returning to his usual composed demeanor.
On the other side
Luo Qianqian, staring at the call that Li Kun had ended, had a hint of bitterness in her eyes. She dialed again, only to be informed that the line was busy...
She stomped her feet in anger, repeatedly cursing, “It’s infuriating, that idiot actually blocked me. Thinks he’s so great, old man, pfft.”
The more Luo Qianqian thought about it, the angrier she got. How could she not directly confront him? If she was to break up, she needed to get something out of it or at least a settlement fee; otherwise, he could forget about dumping her.
“Where are you going?” Luo Jianguo, seeing her with a bag and made-up face, asked curiously.
Luo Qianqian didn’t even glance up, irritated, “I have something to do.”
“Something to do? Not looking for work, what could it be? Going to gamble with your shady friends again?” Luo Jianguo, seeing Luo Qianqian’s cold attitude, was instantly enraged.
Ignoring him, Luo Qianqian walked out with a stylish step.
Luo Jianguo, fuming, his chest heaving, “You unfilial daughter, you’re going to make me die of anger…”
Luo Qianqian sneered. If the Luo family had fallen to this point, it was all thanks to him. What right did he have to control her?
Luo Qianqian took a taxi to Li’s Group.
After paying the fare, she headed straight for Li Kun’s office.
“Miss Luo, Mr. Li has instructed that he does not see any visitors.”
The secretary blocked her, but was no match for Luo Qianqian’s strength. Luo Qianqian pushed open the office door.
Li Kun looked up, a trace of disgust flashing across his face.
He waved for the secretary to leave, who nodded and quietly closed the door behind her.
Luo Qianqian’s eyes were filled with venom, biting her lip, “Li Kun, what’s the meaning of not answering my calls?”
Li Kun pulled out a cigarette from the pack and lit it, taking a deep drag.
After a while, he exhaled the smoke and spoke dejectedly, “You still have the nerve to come here? You’re a troublemaker!”
Luo Qianqian was shocked, opening and closing her mouth, “Troublemaker? You’re calling me a troublemaker?”
Luo Qianqian threw her bag at Li Kun, but he quickly dodged her attack.
Li Kun’s anger flared. With the company in crisis, and now this woman causing trouble, it infuriated him, “Aren’t you a troublemaker? Because of you, the company is going under. I can’t afford to offend Mo Huai; can I afford to offend him? Get out!”
“Bankrupt?” Luo Qianqian was stunned, thinking to herself, Mo Huai is ruthless. Not only has he bankrupted the Luo family, now he’s ruining Li’s Group too.
What angered Luo Qianqian more was that all of Mo Huai’s actions were for Luo Wei.
Why should Luo Wei get all of Mo Huai’s love while she has nothing?
At this moment, Luo Qianqian’s face alternated between green and white, smiling bitterly.
