Mo Huai had already informed Gu Xiu by phone on his way, and Gu Xiu rushed to the hospital immediately.
The Maybach pulled up at the hospital entrance, and Mo Huai, anxious, got out of the car to help the girl unbuckle her seatbelt. Her face was as pale as paper.
"Weiwei, are you okay?" Mo Huai asked anxiously, his hair slightly disheveled.
"Mm," Luo Wei responded vaguely, her face deathly pale.
Mo Huai carried the girl out of the car, and as his hand touched her nightgown, he felt a liquid that had no scent, and his face instantly darkened.
When Mrs. Wang saw Mo Huai's hand, her heart skipped a beat. "Oh my God, her water broke. God, please keep our young lady safe," Mrs. Wang prayed frantically, clasping her hands together.
Mo Huai carried the girl directly into the obstetrics department, where Gu Xiu was already waiting in a white coat.
Seeing them, Gu Xiu approached. "I've already arranged for the best obstetrician in Yanjing. Leave it to us."
Mo Huai placed the girl on a medical gurney, staring straight at her as several nurses pushed her into the operating room.
Mo Huai looked like a puppet with its strings cut, his gaze dull and lifeless as he leaned against the wall, fingers running through his hair, his expression dark and bloodthirsty.
Gu Xiu patted his shoulder in comfort. "Don't worry, Dr. Wang is very skilled. You can trust him."
Mo Huai glanced at him but said nothing.
At this moment, time seemed to slow down terrifyingly. His gaze never left the operating light ahead, his face like it was coated in frost.
Father and Mother Mo rushed over as soon as they were notified by Mrs. Wang.
Mother Mo took one look at her devastated son and walked over to Mrs. Wang, asking, "How long has Weiwei been inside?"
Mrs. Wang was still trying to recall when Mo Huai's cold voice came, "Ten hours and eight minutes."
Mother Mo's legs went weak with panic, and if not for Father Mo's support, she might have collapsed to the ground.
"Don't worry, Weiwei will be fine," Father Mo, who had weathered many storms, reassured her calmly.
"Yes, I hope so," Mother Mo sighed deeply, her eyes fixed on the operating room door.
As time ticked by, Mo Huai's mood worsened, his entire being seemingly drained of life, his gaze becoming increasingly vacant.
"Young Master, please change your clothes. It's cold now; you don't want to catch a cold," Mrs. Wang gently suggested, handing him some clothes.
Mo Huai glanced down at his outfit. In his rush, he had come to the hospital still wearing his pajamas, and his heart felt even colder than the winter weather outside.
"Thank you," Mo Huai responded softly, taking the clothes from Mrs. Wang.
"How is Weiwei? What's the situation now?" Gu Chu rushed over, breathless.
Chi Ye followed closely behind, anxiously asking, "How is Weiwei?"
Gu Chu frowned as he saw the worried faces around her, sensing that things were not going well. She became as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.
Chi Ye painfully slapped his forehead, leaning against the wall with one hand, his mind racing.
Meanwhile, Mo Huai's eyes were icy cold. Sixteen hours had passed, and the fate of those inside was still unknown. He hated himself for being powerless. If something happened to her, he would rather not have the child.
At this moment, Gu Xiu also began to feel uneasy, his expression growing tense. Typically, the first birth takes six to seven hours, but she had been in there for over ten hours...
Seeing Mo Huai's pained expression, Gu Xiu's heart clenched, as if the air had suddenly dropped to freezing. He didn't dare to speak to Mo Huai.
Mo Huai's cold demeanor kept everyone at a distance, and his gaze never left the operating room door, silently counting the hours since the girl went in.
For the first time, he felt that time was unbearably slow, more torturous than any punishment.
At the entrance to the operating room, Mo Huai, Father and Mother Mo, Gu Xiu, Gu Chu, Yan Chen, Chi Ye, Su Yuxin, Xu Kaifeng, and Mrs. Wang all wore expressions as gloomy as storm clouds, their thoughts tangled in anxiety.
In a flash, the operating room door suddenly opened, and a nurse came out holding a baby. "Who is the family of Luo Wei?"
Everyone rushed forward at once. The nurse smiled and said, "Congratulations, it's a lovely little princess."
"Princess?" Mother Mo exclaimed. "A granddaughter! Wonderful, I'm a grandmother now!"
Mother Mo cried tears of joy.
Mo Huai pushed through the crowd like a madman, grabbing the nurse's arm anxiously. "How is the mother?"
Before the nurse could answer, Chief Surgeon Wang stepped forward, standing in front of him. "The mother experienced severe bleeding and had a premature birth, but she is currently stable. You can rest assured, Mr. Mo."
Chief Surgeon Wang spoke with trepidation. He had heard of Mo Huai and knew that if anything happened to the mother, he would be in serious trouble, possibly ending his career.
Fortunately, after a great deal of effort, both mother and daughter were safe. Chief Surgeon Wang wiped the sweat from his brow, relieved.
Mo Huai thanked him, the earlier gloom gradually fading as his face returned to its usual stern expression.
Luo Wei was wheeled out by the nurse and returned to her hospital room.
Mo Huai stayed by her bedside, never leaving her side. Mother Mo, worried about her son, tried to comfort him. "Xiaohuai, Weiwei is fine now. You haven't rested in two days. Why don't you go sleep in the room next door? Your father and I can take care of her."
Mo Huai waved her off, his gaze fixed on the girl, gently stroking her pale face. "No need. I want to be here when Weiwei wakes up."
Mother Mo sighed and quietly left, heading to the nursery next door.
Luo Wei furrowed her brow, slowly opening her eyes. She turned her head to see Mo Huai tightly holding her left hand, his head buried deeply in the blanket.
Luo Wei lifted the corners of her lips, raising her right hand to gently touch his head. The man stirred and lifted his head.
Their eyes met, and Mo Huai's hands trembled slightly as he spoke in a low, hoarse voice, "You're awake. How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort? Are you hungry? Is there anything you want to eat? Are you feeling better now…?"
Faced with the man's series of concerns, Luo Wei didn't know where to start in her response. She let out a soft laugh, "I'm fine, really, no need to worry."
Upon closer inspection, Luo Wei noticed the man's exhausted expression, dark circles under his eyes, and the stubble on his face, as if he hadn't taken care of himself for several days.
Luo Wei thought to herself that Mo Huai, who always took great care of his appearance, must have been terrified.
Reaching out, she touched the man's rough cheek, her eyes gentle. "I'm sorry for making you worry."
Mo Huai's voice softened as he caressed her face with his fingertips. "Silly girl, I wished I could have taken your place in there. Watching you in surgery while I was powerless... I hated that feeling. I'm just glad you're okay now."
With red-rimmed eyes, Mo Huai knelt beside the bed, his voice thick with emotion. "I love you, more than you'll ever know."
Luo Wei, still weak, opened her eyes and joked, "Then how about giving me a little more of the final payment?"
Mo Huai replied, "Mhm, whatever my wife says."
Luo Wei's smile widened to her ears, feeling like the happiest woman in the world at that moment.
Mo Huai leaned down and embraced her, resting his forehead against hers, their breaths mingling, creating an intimate atmosphere in the room.
"Weiwei, you're awake," a familiar voice suddenly interrupted, and Luo Wei quickly pushed the man pressing down on her away.
