The next day, when Luo Wei woke up, Mo Huai was by her side, watching over her. Seeing that she was awake, the man smiled gently and asked in a warm tone, “Feeling better?”

Luo Wei nodded obediently. “Mhm, mhm.”

“Are you hungry?” Mo Huai continued to smile softly.

“A little,” Luo Wei answered honestly, estimating that she had slept for more than ten hours.

Normally, by the time she woke up, Mo Huai would have already made breakfast and gone to work. It was rare for him to be home today, and this novelty was not lost on Luo Wei.

Mo Huai bent down, scooping Luo Wei into his arms, and carried her towards the bathroom. Caught off guard, Luo Wei instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. Glancing down at her, Mo Huai’s smile deepened.

“I... I can do it myself,” Luo Wei whispered hesitantly.

But Mo Huai acted as if he hadn’t heard her and continued carrying her to the bathroom. Once there, he carefully squeezed out toothpaste for her, helped her wash her face, and wiped it dry—acting very much like a perfect, attentive husband.

In moments when Mo Huai wasn’t looking, Luo Wei’s face flushed a deep red. She had never been pampered like this by a man before. Could her good fortune be starting?

After finishing everything, Mo Huai carried her back to the dining table and served her a bowl of porridge.

“You need to quit your job. You got this infection because you were dealing with animals,” Mo Huai said, sipping his coffee with an air of authority.

Luo Wei, who had just taken a sip of porridge, paused. “I don’t want to quit my job. My friend is already overwhelmed, and I don’t want her to know I’m pregnant. I don’t want her to worry…” Her voice trailed off, and she sounded as if she were a child being wronged.

Realizing he had spoken too harshly, Mo Huai cleared his throat and softened his tone. “Leave it to me. Just focus on taking care of yourself and the baby.”

Luo Wei’s mind raced. How would he handle it? She wanted to ask but decided not to, until she received a call from Su Yuxin that made everything clear.

“Weiwei, where did you find those two employees? They’re such a good deal—just basic salaries, and the store can easily afford it. They have all the necessary certificates. If we had hired them outside, it would have cost us thousands!”

“You’re not feeling well, so take it easy. Did you see Dr. Shu?”

Only then did Luo Wei understand what Mo Huai meant by "leave it to me." He had brought two high-level servants from the Mo family’s old residence to help at the store. They were only taking the basic salary of Yan Jing city, and Su Yuxin had been so satisfied during their trial that she hadn’t hesitated to hire them.

The servants had concealed their true identities, claiming they were from the countryside and looking for work.

“Yes, I saw Dr. Shu,” Luo Wei evaded.

“Now that there are new employees, make sure you get some rest. Are you still feeling nauseous?”

“I’m fine now,” Luo Wei replied, slightly guilty.

After the call, she knew that Mo Huai couldn’t go to the office because of her, so he had brought his work home. At that moment, he was in the study, reviewing documents.

Bored, Luo Wei flipped through some books on pregnancy, occasionally glancing toward the study. The door remained firmly closed.

Setting down the book, she went to the kitchen, made a cup of coffee, and carefully carried it to the study, knocking lightly.

After hearing a response, Luo Wei entered the study for the first time, taking in her surroundings—a desk, a bookshelf filled with famous books, and a few world-renowned paintings hanging on the walls. The room was neat and tasteful.

She looked up and saw Mo Huai wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, dressed in a casual yet elegant outfit that captivated her. A man who worked seriously was indeed very attractive.

Mo Huai looked up at her and asked gently, “Are you bored? I’ll come keep you company once I finish this.”

“No, no, I just didn’t want you to overwork yourself, so I brought you some coffee,” Luo Wei quickly denied, softly placing the cup in front of him.

“Alright, you go ahead. I’ll be out soon.”

Luo Wei left the study quietly, returned to the living room, and happily started watching her favorite anime.

Suddenly, she heard the door open with a “click.” Luo Wei frowned. Mo Huai was in the upstairs study, and they were the only two people living there. Who could it be? Her heart skipped a beat, and she cautiously stood up.

A man wearing a baseball cap walked in, leaving Luo Wei too shocked to speak. The man turned and, upon seeing her, exclaimed, “Who are you?”

“I... I’m…” Luo Wei stammered, recognizing the man’s voice as Mo Huai’s cousin—Fu Chen. She didn’t know how to introduce herself, leading to an awkward silence.

Fu Chen repeated his earlier question, “Who are you? You look so familiar.”

He stepped closer and took off his cap.

“She’s your sister-in-law,” Mo Huai’s calm voice came from upstairs as he descended.

Fu Chen’s brows furrowed as he clicked his tongue. “What did you say?” He looked at Mo Huai incredulously.

“She’s your sister-in-law,” Mo Huai repeated calmly.

Fu Chen couldn’t believe his ears. If she was his sister-in-law, that meant she was Mo Huai’s wife!

“I have another cousin?” Fu Chen questioned, doubtful. He was sure he only had one cousin, so when did they get married?

“Did everyone secretly hold a wedding for you two while I was busy filming?”

Fu Chen speculated.

“Why are you here?” Mo Huai ignored Fu Chen’s wild guesses.

“Being chased by paparazzi. I came here to hide,” Fu Chen explained as he plopped down in front of Luo Wei. “You really do look familiar,” he remarked, scrutinizing her.

Luo Wei smiled awkwardly, just about to introduce herself when Fu Chen suddenly interrupted.

“I remember now! At Gu Xiu’s birthday party, Gu Chu invited you along,” Fu Chen said, finally realizing.

“Yes, nice to meet you,” Luo Wei greeted with a smile.

Noticing how shy she seemed, Fu Chen decided not to pry into how she and his cousin had ended up together. Instead, he turned to Mo Huai, curious to hear the story of how he suddenly gained a sister-in-law.

“What’s going on with you two?” Fu Chen asked, raising an eyebrow and flashing a mischievous grin.

“Hand over the keycard,” Mo Huai demanded coldly.

Fu Chen hesitated, pursing his lips. “Fine, don’t tell me. I won’t ask.” He pretended to zip his lips shut.

“Give me the keycard,” Mo Huai repeated, now more stern. Fu Chen used to come and go freely, but now that Luo Wei was here, he didn’t want any more surprises that might startle her. It was time to set boundaries.

Fu Chen reluctantly handed the keycard over to Mo Huai.

“The paparazzi should be gone by now. You should head back,” Mo Huai suggested, subtly showing him the door.

Fu Chen’s eyes widened in disbelief that his cousin was actually kicking him out.

“Cousin, let me stay a little longer and chat with my sister-in-law,” Fu Chen pleaded, winking at Luo Wei with a teasing smile.

“No need,” Mo Huai refused in a cold tone. Knowing Fu Chen’s talkative nature, he didn’t want to subject a pregnant woman to it.

Seeing he couldn’t win, Fu Chen reluctantly left, feeling defeated.
