In the Luo family household, Luo Qianqian was seething with anger, her eyes burning with fury. She couldn’t understand why Mr. Mo would be interested in Luo Wei; it seemed utterly blind of him.
She stormed into the kitchen, poured herself a glass of water, and drank it down in one gulp, trying to cool her frustration.
Zhu Shulan, emerging from a nearby room, noticed her daughter's distress and approached with curiosity. "My dear daughter, what’s wrong? What happened to make you so angry?"
Luo Qianqian glanced at her mother with a look of feigned hurt. Her voice trembled as she began to speak, "Mom, Luo Wei and Mo..."
Luo Qianqian suddenly clammed up, realizing that revealing too much could jeopardize her own standing in the Luo family. She was not foolish enough to risk her position by revealing the full extent of Luo Wei's association with the Mo Group.
Seeing that Luo Qianqian had only disclosed part of the story, Zhu Shulan grew anxious. "Did Luo Wei cause trouble again? Our family has long disowned her."
Luo Qianqian composed herself and replied with hesitation, "I ran into her at the mall. I greeted her, but she ignored me."
Zhu Shulan's expression softened slightly. "Is that all? You shouldn’t let such trivial things upset you. Don’t waste your energy on her." As she comforted her daughter, her resentment toward Luo Wei only deepened.
Luo Qianqian sniffed and stammered, "Okay, Mom, I understand."
She continued, "I won’t argue with my sister. She’s still young and doesn’t understand. I don’t blame her."
"Don’t be upset, my dear daughter. I’ve transferred 30,000 yuan to you via WeChat. Go shopping and enjoy yourself," Zhu Shulan said, feeling relieved and pleased with her daughter’s behavior.
"Wow, thank you, Mom!" Luo Qianqian exclaimed, hugging Zhu Shulan excitedly. She was genuinely happy.
After returning to her room, Luo Qianqian went to her dressing table and called Chi Yu.
At that time.
Chi Yu was in a meeting when the ringing of his cell phone abruptly interrupted the quiet room. He frowned slightly and glanced at the screen—it was Luo Qianqian calling. Without hesitation, he silenced the call and set his phone to silent mode.
He had little patience for Luo Qianqian, who seemed to persistently bother him, causing him increasing annoyance.
“Sorry everyone, let’s continue the meeting,” Chi Yu said, looking up and apologizing.
After the meeting, Chi Yu returned to his office, a hint of fatigue evident in his eyes. He had not been sleeping well recently.
At that moment, Chi Yu’s cell phone rang again—it was Luo Qianqian calling. He answered the phone with an expressionless demeanor.
“Brother Yu, why did you ignore my call earlier?” Luo Qianqian’s voice was playful.
“Is there a problem?” Chi Yu’s tone was curt.
“Guess who I ran into today?” Luo Qianqian said after a brief pause.
After a moment of silence, Luo Qianqian continued, a hint of embarrassment in her voice, “I met Luo Wei and her man today. I’ll send you the pictures.”
Chi Yu’s expression darkened. The news that Luo Wei had another man troubled him, and he had already blocked her phone number and WeChat.
A minute later, Chi Yu received a picture on WeChat. The image depicted the backs of two people: a tall man holding a girl’s hand tightly. Chi Yu immediately recognized the girl's figure as Luo Wei's, though the man was unfamiliar.
The couple appeared closely attached, making it clear to anyone with a discerning eye that they were indeed a couple. Chi Yu’s face twisted into a sneer; his fists clenched, and his lips tightened.
“Brother Yu, are you still there?” Luo Qianqian’s voice feigned concern. She was confident that this photo would make Chi Yu abandon any interest in Luo Wei and turn his attention toward her instead.
She had deliberately taken the photo when the couple was leaving, intending to send it to Chi Yu. Seeing his reaction now, just as she had hoped, Luo Qianqian felt a sense of satisfaction.
Chi Yu, however, remained silent. He abruptly ended the call, his anger palpable.
Muttering to himself, Chi Yu said, “Oh, good job. So, your previous affection for me was all a lie…” His sneer deepened as he straightened his posture, the bitterness evident on his face.

After the incident, Luo Wei lost her appetite for even the delicious grilled tofu. Mo Huai brought her back to the Supreme Mansion.
In a low and soothing voice, Mo Huai offered, "I'll go cook."
Luo Wei's stomach growled in response, and she nodded obediently.
Without further delay, Mo Huai strode into the kitchen to get busy.
As Luo Wei sat on the sofa, lost in thought, her phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Dr. Shu calling. Her brow furrowed slightly.
He pressed the answer button. "Weiwei, you haven't come for a follow-up visit in a while. How are you feeling?"
Dr. Shu's concern was evident.
"I'm fine," Luo Wei replied.
"Are you taking your medication regularly each month?" Dr. Shu continued, advising her gently. Despite Luo Wei's difficult background, she had always maintained a positive attitude among Dr. Shu's patients. She had never attempted suicide and had worked hard to live for herself.
"Yes," Luo Wei answered, her voice tinged with guilt as she nervously fidgeted with the hem of her clothes.
She kept glancing towards the kitchen, worried that Mo Huai might unexpectedly come out. She didn’t want him to be concerned about her illness.
She reassured herself that she could handle her health issues without causing trouble for Mo Huai.
After a brief conversation with Dr. Shu, who had to end the call due to a medical visit, Luo Wei sighed with relief. Her tense mood began to ease.
Since becoming pregnant, Luo Wei had stopped taking her medication, fearing it might affect the fetus. Su Yuxin had repeatedly urged her to take the medicine on time, emphasizing that her health was crucial. However, Luo Wei was deeply concerned about the wellbeing of her baby.
In her anxiety, she had secretly stashed the medication in a corner of her locker, hoping to manage without it.
Ever since she met Mo Huai, Luo Wei had not experienced any episodes of depression or anxiety; her mood had remained remarkably stable. She thought to herself that perhaps this man was sent by fate to be by her side and bring her salvation.
“What are you thinking about?” Mo Huai asked, noticing the dreamy look on her face. A smile flickered in his eyes.
“Hehe, I’m so hungry. What’s this?” Luo Wei asked playfully, blinking her large eyes.
“Crab meat and tofu,” Mo Huai replied affectionately, his eyes warm with patience.
“Did you just learn this, too?” Luo Wei asked with a curious smile.
“Well, it only takes five minutes to learn. It’s not difficult,” Mo Huai said proudly.
Luo Wei raised her hands in a thumbs-up gesture, a slight smile playing on her lips. She scooped a spoonful of crab meat tofu and tasted it; it was just as delicious as in the hotel.
As she ate, Luo Wei glanced at the man sitting opposite her. Mo Huai was picking up his food slowly, his usually stern and distant expression now calm and serene.
She thought with a hint of amusement, "The saying 'not talking while eating, not talking while sleeping' must have been about him!"
Luo Wei couldn’t help but admire the man even more. After dinner, she declared with enthusiasm, "I'll wash the dishes."
She rolled up her sleeves and headed to the kitchen, but Mo Huai was quick to intervene. "I'll do it. You go sit on the sofa," he said firmly, taking the dishes from her hands.
With that, Mo Huai ushered her gently out of the kitchen. Luo Wei could only watch as he walked towards the sink, leaving her to relax on the sofa.
Luo Wei pouted, feeling a twinge of guilt. She wondered if she was becoming too dependent, if she might end up spoiling herself and losing her self-reliance.
As she sat on the sofa, she couldn't help but reflect on how Mo Huai seemed to treat her almost like a daughter, which stirred a mix of emotions within her.
On the other hand, Mo Huai felt a deep sense of fulfillment. For him, taking care of the person he loved was the most meaningful thing in the world. His life creed was simple: if you love someone, you must pamper them.
