Mo Huai sent the medicine bottle to Gu Family Hospital. Gu Xiu examined the pills but couldn't identify them, so he sent them to a specialized institution for testing. A few days later, Mo Huai received a call from Gu Xiu.
"Are the test results out?" Mo Huai asked, his voice cold and devoid of emotion.
Gu Xiu's hand trembled as he held the phone. He had been shocked when he saw the test report, finding it hard to reconcile with the cheerful and optimistic Luo Wei he knew.
"It's out," Gu Xiu said slowly, frowning as he looked again at the report, which indicated the medicine was for severe depression.
Mo Huai was silent for a few seconds, took a deep breath, and his face darkened. "Speak," he commanded tersely.
Gu Xiu hesitated, knowing what the expression on Mo Huai's face would be. "The test report shows that the medicine is for patients with severe depression. She..." He trailed off, not daring to say more.
"You said she has severe depression," Mo Huai repeated, sneering and shaking his head, as if unwilling to accept the reality.
"Yeah," Gu Xiu hummed before continuing, "From a psychological perspective, this disease is caused by contradictions in the long-term living environment, various pressures, not being understood, and not having a good support system. Over time, these internal contradictions build up, causing psychological and emotional shifts towards negativity, pessimism, unwillingness to move, unwillingness to talk, despair, self-blame, and a lack of self-worth."
Mo Huai listened in silence, his expression unreadable.
Gu Xiu sighed and added solemnly, "She must be trying hard to hide her emotions in front of you. It must be very difficult for her..."
Mo Huai's deep eyes were as dark as the night. He hung up the phone before Gu Xiu could finish speaking.
He put down his phone and thought for a long time. Mo Huai was at the company because he needed to sign a contract. The office remained quiet for a long time until there was a knock on the door.
Mo Huai moved his lips, "Come in."
Xu Kaifeng pushed the door open and walked in, his brows unconsciously frowning. President Mo exuded a cold aura, and the air pressure around him seemed to drop even further.
Xu Kaifeng calmed himself and said tremulously, "Boss Mo, Boss Li has arrived at the meeting room."
After a few seconds of silence, Mo Huai opened his thin lips and said, "Okay."
But Mo Huai didn't get up to go to the meeting room. Instead, he tossed out two words, grabbed the car keys on the table, and strode out of the office.
"Cancel."
Xu Kaifeng was taken aback, surprised and hesitant, muttering to himself, "Cancel? Why?" He couldn't voice his thoughts aloud; as an assistant, his primary job was to manage the situation. Last time, he had used the excuse of Mr. Mo being in a car accident, so he wondered what excuse he could use this time.
An idea struck him suddenly, and he snapped his fingers.
With heavy steps and a solemn expression, Xu Kaifeng entered the meeting room, his demeanor conveying worry.
President Li looked at him with confusion. "Assistant Xu, what's wrong? You don’t look well. Where’s President Mo?"
Xu Kaifeng sighed deeply, appearing troubled, which made Mr. Li scratch his head in bewilderment.
"Assistant Xu, what’s the matter?" Mr. Li asked curiously, staring at him.
Xu Kaifeng snapped out of his thoughts and said, "I’m sorry, Mr. Li, Mr. Mo..."
"Sick?" Mr. Li’s eyes widened, glancing at Assistant Xu’s concerned expression. Could it be something serious?
President Li sighed and shook his head, muttering, "President Mo is such a handsome man. How could he be so young and...ah."
Xu Kaifeng interrupted, suddenly realizing something. "Boss Li, you misunderstood. Boss Mo is indeed sick."
Mr. Li suddenly understood and smiled awkwardly, "Sorry, I misunderstood. Hehe..."
Xu Kaifeng felt a bead of cold sweat on his forehead. He shuddered at the thought of how President Mo would react if he knew about this misunderstanding.
Mr. Li stood up and said gently, "Please give my regards to Mr. Mo. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now."
"I'm truly sorry for taking up your precious time," Xu Kaifeng replied, nodding.
President Li waved off the apology. "No problem at all. Just tell President Mo to get plenty of rest. Goodbye."
Xu Kaifeng escorted Mr. Li and his entourage out of the Mo Group. As he watched Mr. Li's car drive away, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride.
However, as he basked in his self-satisfaction, he suddenly recalled President Mo and shivered. He had maneuvered things to benefit the Mo Group, even if he didn’t receive any credit.
Hoping that President Mo hadn’t discovered his actions, Xu Kaifeng let out a sigh of relief and turned to head back into the building.

At the Supreme Mansion, Mo Huai opened the door to find Luo Wei sitting on the sofa, engrossed in a book.
Hearing the door, Luo Wei looked up and asked, "Have you finished discussing the contract? Why are you back so soon?"
Mo Huai’s expression remained composed as he responded with a faint smile, "We’re done."
Luo Wei handed him the book she was reading, "This book is really good."
Mo Huai glanced at the cover, "The Convenience Store of Sorrow," then raised his eyes to meet hers. His gaze was intense, as if he were trying to see through her.
Luo Wei sensed something off and asked, "What’s wrong? Why do you keep looking at me?"
Her face flushed with embarrassment as she lowered her gaze. The intensity of his stare made her feel shy.
Mo Huai remained silent, his eyes soft and affectionate. Luo Wei continued to feel puzzled by his unusual demeanor.
Suddenly, Mo Huai pulled Luo Wei into his arms, enveloping her in a warm embrace. His hot breath tickled the back of her neck.
Luo Wei was taken aback for a moment before she asked softly, "What's wrong with you?"
Mo Huai's voice was deep and hoarse as he responded, "It's okay. I just need your embrace."
Luo Wei was surprised. The always dignified and aloof President Mo was acting so differently. Concerned, she asked, "Did something happen at the company?"
Mo Huai shook his head, denying any issues. His gentle breathing continued to brush against her ear.
Not wanting to press further, Luo Wei wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his chest and listening to his steady heartbeat. They remained in this embrace for what felt like an eternity.
When Aunt Wang opened the door, she saw the two of them locked in a tight hug and couldn’t help but smile knowingly. At the sound, Luo Wei pulled away from Mo Huai and looked towards the door. Aunt Wang greeted her with a smile, still preoccupied with the vegetables she had just bought.
Wei smiled shyly and murmured, "Auntie Wang, you're back from buying groceries."
Aunt Wang walked towards the kitchen, her voice low as she asked, "I hope I didn't disturb you."
Luo Wei quickly shook her head, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "No, no, hehe..."
Feeling extremely awkward, Luo Wei fiddled with her fingers. Trying to change the subject and avoid meeting Mo Huai's gaze, she asked, "Auntie Wang, what vegetables did you buy? Let me help you."
Aunt Wang smiled warmly and replied, "There's no need. You should spend time with the young master." With a knowing look, she walked past Luo Wei and into the kitchen.
Mo Huai's eyes remained fixed on Luo Wei, his expression serious. Inside, he vowed to make those responsible for the girl’s past suffering pay for their actions.
