The next day.
Mo Huai ordered his assistant Xu to announce his wife—Luo Wei—on the official Weibo and in the media. When Mo Huai saw the announcement, a satisfied smile appeared on his face. He wanted to make their relationship public; Luo Wei was the only Mrs. Mo he acknowledged.
That day, Luo Wei was leisurely scrolling through Weibo when her hand suddenly froze at the announcement on Mo Corporation's official account. The Weibo post read: "Let me introduce my wife—Luo Wei!" The message was brief and to the point, accompanied by a photo of them together when they registered their marriage.
Luo Wei took a moment to process this. Mo Huai was sitting on the single sofa opposite her, turning his gaze toward her. “Did you see?” Mo Huai did not look up from the financial magazine he was casually flipping through.
“What... what is this about?” Luo Wei asked nervously. With this announcement, everyone would know. Did he genuinely like her?
Her face flushed slightly with shyness as she looked at him with anticipation. Mo Huai suddenly placed the magazine on the coffee table, looked up, and said firmly, “We are legally married; hiding it isn't good.”
Luo Wei gazed at him for a moment, then her lips curled into a sweet smile.
Meanwhile, at the Luo family home.
Luo Qianqian held her phone with trembling fingers, staring at the announcement on Mo Corporation’s official Weibo. She gritted her teeth, fuming internally. Why did Luo Wei get Mo Huai's attention? What schemes did she use?
“What are you thinking about?” Zhu Shulan walked over and patted her shoulder.
Luo Qianqian quickly regained her sweet smile and said in a girlish tone, “Mom, it’s nothing. I’m just looking at celebrity gossip.”
“Oh? Any recent gossip? I’m getting old and don’t keep up with the latest trends,” Zhu Shulan replied as she sat down and took a sip of tea.
Luo Qianqian’s smile faltered slightly as she steadied her anxious heart. “No, just some entertainment news. It’s not something you’d be interested in.” She then changed the topic, “Mom, I’ve paid off the two million debt. As a result, Dad cut my allowance for this month.”
Zhu Shulan smiled and said, “Don’t worry. I still have a few hundred thousand in my private savings. I’ll give you some pocket money.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Luo Qianqian’s WeChat received a transfer of twenty thousand from Zhu Shulan. Luo Qianqian’s face lit up with surprise, and she gave her mother a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, Mom. I love you.”
“Go on, don’t be so cheeky,” Zhu Shulan said affectionately.
Luo Qianqian’s gaze fell back to the Weibo post, her eyes gleaming with malice as she clenched her fists.
At the Chi family home.
Chi’s mother was applying a face mask in the living room, eating an apple with one hand while holding her phone to read the news with the other. Her face gradually darkened as she saw the announcement about Wei Wei’s marriage. So, Wei Wei got married? She was filled with countless thoughts.
The announcement by Mo Corporation had dominated the trending topics, making it impossible to miss. Chi’s mother’s heart tightened as she wondered how Wei Wei had never mentioned knowing the president of Mo Corporation—Mo Huai. When did they meet? Was he good to her? Did they marry because they truly loved each other?
Lost in thought, she heard footsteps approaching.
Without thinking, Chi’s mother turned to see Chi Yu in a black suit, impeccably dressed but with a gloomy expression. Chi’s mother removed her face mask, tossed the apple on the table, and walked up to him. “What’s going on with Wei Wei?”
Chi Yu squinted, raising an eyebrow. “What’s there to know? I have nothing to do with her anymore.”
“Don’t play dumb. The headline says Wei Wei got married. Is Mr. Mo good to her? Is she being deceived?” Chi’s mother nagged, rubbing her hands nervously.
“I don’t know,” Chi Yu replied coldly, a bitter smile forming on his lips.
Chi’s mother sighed, her tone disapproving. “You’re really something. Wei Wei is such a good girl, and you...”
Chi Yu sneered, his sarcasm apparent. “If she’s so good, she wouldn’t change her mind so easily. Don’t mention her in front of me again.”
Just as Chi Yu was about to head upstairs, Chi’s mother stopped him, her gaze fixed on his hand. “What happened to your hand?”
Chi Yu shook off her hand, his face darkening. “It’s nothing.”
Chi’s mother sighed and, despite her concerns, let him go.
At that moment, Chi Ye cheerfully entered the living room.
“What’s wrong?” Chi’s mother asked curiously. While one was dejected, the other seemed elated.
Chi Ye, smiling broadly, said, “Mom, Wei Wei got married! Did you see today’s news? I thought my brother-in-law was an outstanding man when I saw him in the hospital, and it turns out I was right.”
Chi’s mother was stunned, feeling sorrowful. “Have you met them? Did Chi Yu know Wei Wei was married?”
Chi Ye replied with a dismissive snort, “I wouldn’t dare. I just want Wei Wei to be happy.”
Chi’s mother shook her head, sighing again.
Chi Ye, in high spirits, walked up the stairs. Chi Yu’s door was shut tight. Chi Ye stopped and knocked three times, but there was no response. He knocked again, still no answer.
Chi Yu muttered to himself, thinking that since he saw Chi Yu enter the room before him, it was normal for him to be silent now, possibly upset alone.
Chi Ye smirked, unable to contain his smile, and thought, "He deserves it!"
Chi Ye turned back to his room, took out his phone, and posted on his Moments.
【Congratulations to Wei Wei for escaping the furnace and embracing brightness, oh yeah!!!】 accompanied by a triumphant and humorous emoji.
Gu Chuyi replied: “Congratulations on the victory. If Mo Huai dares to bully Wei Wei, I’ll take him down.”
Luo Wei replied to Gu Chuyi: “Calm down, calm down! (winking emoji)”
Chi Ye replied to Luo Wei: “Sister Wei Wei (wounded emoji), you must be happy!”
In his room, Chi Yu sat on the sofa with a dark expression, staring at his phone screen, which displayed Chi Ye’s Moments. His face was cold.
He gathered his thoughts, picked up his phone, and opened the contacts list, scrolling down to Luo Wei’s contact.
After a moment of hesitation, Chi Yu pressed the call button.
The familiar voice on the other end said: “The number you dialed is currently busy.”
“Bang—”
In a burst of frustration, Chi Yu slammed his phone onto the floor.
Chi Yu clenched his lips, his eyes reddening, his expression darkening with an icy chill. The previously cold demeanor now turned vicious. Anger churned within him like a boiler about to explode under excessive pressure.
On the other side, Chi Ye heard the loud crash and frowned. He thought, “What’s up with Chi Yu? Even if he lost his wife, he’s the one who messed up. He should blame himself.”
Chi Ye lazily turned over, quickly replying to his Moments. With comments flooding in, he couldn't keep up, so he didn't bother paying attention to Chi Yu’s mental state.
