The next day.
Luo Wei woke up with sleepy eyes, pulled off the covers, and sat up, rubbing her eyes with her slender fingers.
"Ah—" Luo Wei yawned, feeling lethargic.
Habitually, she turned her head to the left, but the warmth from the other side of the bed had already faded. She wondered when the man had gotten up.
Furrowing her brows, Luo Wei dragged her feet to the bathroom to wash up.
After freshening up, she walked to the living room and went downstairs, only to find Wang Ma alone in the kitchen making dumplings.
“Good morning, Wang Ma,” Luo Wei yawned and said sleepily.
Wang Ma stopped rolling out the dough, her lips curling into a smile. “Weiwei, you’re awake.”
“I’ll get you breakfast,” Wang Ma said, heading to the stove to bring breakfast to the dining table. “Weiwei, come have breakfast. We’ll have dumplings for lunch.”
“Thank you, Wang Ma. I love dumplings,” Luo Wei said with a grin, sitting obediently at the table and starting to eat.
As Luo Wei took a bite of a fried dough stick, chewing slowly, her eyes occasionally darted towards the study.
Wang Ma noticed and chuckled, teasing, “Young Master got up at seven and has been busy in the study ever since.”
Luo Wei immediately diverted her gaze, giving a faint smile but saying nothing.
Luo Wei's thoughts were in turmoil. Why hadn’t he told her he knew about her illness? Did he truly care for her, or was it just sympathy due to the baby?
A hint of melancholy flashed in her eyes. Maybe after the baby was born, she would just leave.
“Weiwei, take this cup of coffee to Young Master. He likes this coffee to keep him alert,” Wang Ma said, handing her a cup of coffee.
Luo Wei gathered her thoughts and replied awkwardly, “Okay.”
She stood up, took the coffee, and walked towards the study.
“Knock, knock—”
Luo Wei stood at the study door and knocked three times softly.
“Come in.”
Upon hearing the response, Luo Wei pushed the door open and entered.
Mo Huai looked up from the documents he was reviewing and smiled, “You’re up?”
Luo Wei offered a smile, stepped forward, and placed the coffee on the desk. “Coffee to help you wake up.”
Just as she was about to turn and leave, the man pulled her into his embrace.
Before she could react, she found herself falling into a warm hug.
Mo Huai looked down at the girl in his arms, a smile tugging at his lips, his gaze intense. “Your eyes tell me you’re troubled.”
His deep, magnetic voice was sensual and alluring as it reached her ears.
Luo Wei stared at the man's chiseled features and prominent jawline, noticing his Adam’s apple moving involuntarily.
“Hmm?” Mo Huai’s lips remained curved in a smile.
Luo Wei snapped back to reality, stammering, “No... nothing.”
She turned her head away, unable to meet his gaze.
The man saw her evasive eyes.
Luo Wei suddenly felt her breath catch. She wanted to secretly rise and escape his embrace, but he held her even tighter.
She was immobilized, the pleasant scent of sandalwood lingering in her nose. Luo Wei felt a sense of helplessness, wanting to ask him if he truly loved her or if it was just because of the baby or out of a sense of duty.
But she didn’t dare ask. Clearing her throat, she said firmly, “I’m really fine.”
“Is that so? You were talking in your sleep last night,” the man said with a smirk, his expression both amused and teasing.
Luo Wei was stunned, her heart skipping a beat. She never talked in her sleep. Could it be due to recent stress?
After a while, she asked in confusion, “What did I say?”
Mo Huai thought for a moment, looking down at her with a piercing gaze. “You said you liked Mo Huai.”
“What... what?” Luo Wei blurted out, her eyes widening and her ears turning redder.
“I said, you admitted in your dream that you love me,” Mo Huai said, emphasizing each word and dragging out the final syllable.
Luo Wei’s face flushed crimson, her mouth opening and closing, “Did I say that?”
“Yes,” Mo Huai nodded enthusiastically.
Mo Huai continued smugly, “You also said you would love me forever and ever.”
Luo Wei was momentarily petrified, feeling utterly embarrassed and humiliated.
“I...” Luo Wei struggled to speak, her face showing her awkwardness. Mo Huai’s gaze became serious, his eyes dark as night. “I already knew about your depression and anxiety from Gu Xiu. I’m sorry for keeping it from you, but I knew and didn’t tell you.”
Mo Huai paused, his eyes deep like a tranquil pool. “Luo Wei, I love you.”
Luo Wei was speechless, the confession ringing clear and tender in her ears.
Her nose tingled, her eyes reddening, and she choked up, “Do you... really love me?”
Mo Huai smiled and nodded, never breaking eye contact with her.
Luo Wei sat on the man’s lap, his hands holding her slender waist as they looked at each other.
“I’m not perfect. My mother calls me a jinx, and my emotions are unstable. I often need medication. I’m afraid...”
Tears began to fall as Luo Wei spoke, feeling distressed.
Mo Huai’s heart ached. He reached up with his long fingers to wipe away her tears, gently caressing her cheeks.
“I won’t allow you to say such things. You are the best girl I have ever met, and you will always be the best in my heart.”
His deep, alluring voice was tender and soothing.
Luo Wei felt overwhelmed. Since meeting him, she could control her emotions without medication. Perhaps he had healed her fragile heart.
Luo Wei turned her head away, humbly saying, “Please don’t like me. I don’t deserve it.”
Mo Huai smiled, gently turning her face towards him with his fingertips. “Silly.”
Luo Wei was about to speak but was silenced by a deep kiss. The kiss perfectly conveyed his feelings.
After a long while, the man released her. Luo Wei’s face was even redder, like a ripe apple waiting to be picked.
Feeling shy, Luo Wei asked, “What do you like about me?”
Mo Huai looked at her flushed face with a smug smile. “Is there a need for a reason to like someone?”
Luo Wei blinked, puzzled, and mumbled, “Isn’t it necessary?”
Mo Huai chuckled, resting his forehead against hers, and tapped her nose. “It’s love at first sight.”
Luo Wei was taken aback. Love at first sight? That night?
“You...”
Luo Wei’s words were caught in her throat. The man kissed her again, sweetly.
They embraced and kissed, the kisses natural and tender, with less desire and more affection.
They are so cute 🥰 and maybe but I don't like to much drama
