Luo Wei had just finished a video call with Mo Huai's parents, and their message was clear: they insisted that she and Mo Huai return to the old mansion this Friday. As the saying goes, even an unattractive daughter-in-law has to meet her in-laws eventually.

Luo Wei looked at Mo Huai pitifully, but he was calm and composed, reading a magazine. Shrugging, he said, "My parents really want to see you."

"I... I'm scared..." Luo Wei started to say. It was her first time meeting his parents, and it was impossible not to be nervous. Although they seemed kind and treated her like their own daughter during the video call, would it be the same in person?

Luo Wei frowned, and Mo Huai shook his head with a light laugh, "With me here, you still can't relax?"

Pouting, Luo Wei mumbled, "You're not me." She curled her fingers, trying to encourage herself. Mo's mother had issued an ultimatum: unless the sky fell or the earth crumbled, she had to visit them.

Luo Wei could only force herself to agree. This was a hurdle she had to grit her teeth and get through.

Ignoring Mo Huai, Luo Wei picked up her phone and dialed Gu Chuyi's number.

The call was answered instantly. "Hey, sweetheart, what's up?"

Gu Chuyi's soft voice came through, mixed with background noise. Luo Wei frowned, "Are you busy? Should I call back later?"

Gu Chuyi quickly replied, "No, no, wait a minute."

Two minutes later, the noise disappeared, and Gu Chuyi said, "Okay, I'm free now. What's up, darling?"

Luo Wei smiled, taking a bite of the snow pear from the coffee table. The juice flowed down her tongue, sweet and refreshing. "I need to ask you a question."

Gu Chuyi sat down on the sofa. "I'm all ears."

"This Friday, I’m going to meet Mo's parents. You probably know them better than I do, so I thought I'd gather some intel first," Luo Wei said with a mischievous smile.

"Oh," Gu Chuyi dragged out the word, "And... what's in it for me if I tell you?"

"In it for you?" Luo Wei rolled her eyes, grumbling, "What do you want, my lady?"

Gu Chuyi laughed heartily, "Hmm, let me think."

After a few seconds, Gu Chuyi said, "I want to be your child's godmother."

Luo Wei shook her head, smiling helplessly, "Alright, I promise."

Gu Chuyi was very satisfied with her answer. "Hehe, that’s settled then. As for your question, I’d say Mo’s parents are some of the best in-laws you could find."

Luo Wei felt her heart relax at these words and pressed further, "So what should I prepare as a gift for our first meeting?"

"A gift? You're kidding, right? Since when does a new daughter-in-law have to give a gift? It’s you who should be receiving gifts," Gu Chuyi said, surprised.

Luo Wei thought about it and agreed. Gu Chuyi continued, "The baby in your belly is the best gift you could bring."

"Don’t worry. Mo's parents are really nice; I guarantee it," Gu Chuyi said leisurely.

"Alright, I just hope I don’t leave a bad impression since it’s my first time meeting them," Luo Wei said, a bit nervously, taking another bite of the pear.

After chatting a bit more, Luo Wei hung up the phone and looked up, only to meet Mo Huai's deep gaze.

Trying to appear relaxed, Luo Wei said, "It's a new daughter-in-law's duty to do some homework ahead of time."

Mo Huai's lips curled into a slight smile as he pretended to agree with her. "Hmm, makes sense."

"But, with me here, there’s no need to be nervous, alright?" Mo Huai's voice was warm and rich, with a sexy undertone.

Luo Wei nodded obediently, "Alright."

Friday arrived quickly.

On that day, Luo Wei wore a pale pink dress, her slightly rounded belly showing the signs of pregnancy. She wore flat shoes, and her hair was tied up, giving her a sweet and pure look.

Mo Huai, as usual, wore a well-tailored black suit, the cuffs slightly rolled up to reveal his tanned forearms.

The Maybach pulled up in front of the Mo family's old mansion. Luo Wei's palms were sweaty. She had never experienced true parental love, always feeling unlikable. Now she feared Mo’s parents wouldn’t like her either.

Mo Huai turned his head to look at her and gently said, "If you don't want to go in, it’s okay. We can leave."

"No, no," Luo Wei refused immediately. "I should be brave. I need to go in."

Mo Huai's lips curved into a proud smile. He then leaned over to unbuckle her seatbelt.

Luo Wei got out of the car, adjusted her appearance, and Mo Huai took her hand as they walked into the mansion.

Inside, the mansion was extravagantly luxurious, with intricate lighting casting a cold glow. The high walls cast dark shadows on the soft carpet, and as they walked through the spacious yet empty corridors, the eyes of famous people in the paintings seemed to follow them, capturing their souls. The interior design was impeccable.

"Welcome, young master." A servant greeted Mo Huai with a bow, sneaking curious glances at Luo Wei.

Luo Wei smiled politely at the servant.

"Weiwei, you’re here!" Mo's mother quickly walked up with a warm smile.

"Mo..." Luo Wei paused, then corrected herself, "Mom."

Mo's mother’s smile deepened, her wrinkles almost able to catch a fly.

"You brat finally brought Weiwei to see us." Mo's father also approached, sternly addressing Mo Huai.

"Mom, Dad," Mo Huai greeted, his arm around Luo Wei's waist.

"Don’t just stand there; Weiwei is pregnant. Let’s sit down," Mo's mother said, leading Luo Wei to the sofa and instructing the servants to prepare dinner.

Luo Wei smiled awkwardly, her fingers tightening. As the saying goes, people don’t hit smiling faces, so as long as she kept smiling, she couldn’t go wrong, right?

"Put work aside when necessary. Your job now is to take good care of my daughter-in-law, understood?" Mo's father said seriously, taking a sip of tea.

"Alright," Mo Huai nodded.

Luo Wei quickly explained to Mo's father, "Dad, Mo Huai takes really good care of me, hehe."

Mo's father turned his head and smiled gently, speaking softly, "Is that so? That's good to hear. But if he ever treats you badly, just tell me, and I'll break his legs."

Luo Wei sat up straight and obediently nodded, "Okay, okay, thank you, Dad."

"You've arrived!" A familiar, cool voice called out from behind them, and Luo Wei curiously turned around.

It was Fu Chen.

Fu Chen walked over casually and lazily sat down on the sofa.

"Sit properly," Mo's mother patted Fu Chen, ordering him to sit up and mind his manners.

"What are you doing here?" Mo Huai asked, puzzled.

"Oh, it's because my parents have been pressuring me to find a girlfriend. I came out to escape their nagging, and since I haven't seen Aunt and Uncle in a while, I thought I'd drop by," Fu Chen explained, the sunlight from outside highlighting his refined features.

"You too, you're in your late twenties. It's time you found a girlfriend," Mo's mother nagged. "Your cousin is about to become a father, and I know a few daughters of my friends who are quite nice. I can introduce you."

Fu Chen quickly interrupted, "No, no, I'm not good enough for them; they're too hard to please."

"You're going to drive your parents crazy," Mo's mother scolded, giving him a stern look.

Fu Chen smiled helplessly. As a top-tier celebrity, he could have any girlfriend he wanted. But the person he truly wanted to pursue was someone he feared might run away if he expressed his feelings, so he had never dared to confess.

"Auntie, please don't be like my mom. Give me some peace, okay? I'm begging you," Fu Chen pleaded with his hands clasped together.

"Alright, alright, I get it. I'll stop talking," Mo's mother shook her head. She had watched this nephew grow up, with his captivating looks. She wondered which girl would eventually capture his heart.
