After Luo Wei hung up the phone, her mind was in turmoil as she recalled how Zhu Shulan and Luo Qianqian treated her when she was a child. She let out a bitter laugh.
Zhu Shulan was a very proud person who had always looked down on her. Luo Wei couldn't figure out what she had done to offend her.
The truth might be that she wasn't Zhu Shulan's biological child. No matter how well she did, Zhu Shulan would never be satisfied.
Even if Zhu Shulan knew that Luo Qianqian had falsely accused Luo Wei, she would still blindly defend Luo Qianqian.
Over the past twenty years, all the grievances and the depression and anxiety she suffered from had been healed by Mo Huai.
Luo Wei was very grateful to Mo Huai. Because of him, her condition had never relapsed, and even Dr. Shu was surprised, repeatedly marveling at the power of love!
Luo Wei's thoughts wandered, and suddenly the door was pushed open. She instinctively turned her head and saw the man standing imposingly at the door, ready to come in.
Luo Wei smiled and said, "You're back. Why are you home so early today?" She took a couple of steps forward.
Mo Huai's lips curled slightly, and he said, "The meeting ended early, so I came back."
What Luo Wei didn't know was that Mo Huai had returned early because he wanted to see her sooner, so he worked more efficiently than usual.
Mo Huai walked up to her, hugged her, and gently held her in his arms, careful not to be rough, especially avoiding her belly.
Luo Wei smiled softly and also reached out to hug him back. "What's wrong?"
Luo Wei asked out of nowhere.
After a moment, Mo Huai's deep, rich voice said, "I missed you."
Luo Wei paused, then a bright smile spread across her face. "I missed you too."
At that moment, she felt truly happy and content. With him, what more could she ask for?
After a while, Luo Qianqian's words kept echoing in her mind, the question lingering in her thoughts.
Luo Wei pushed Mo Huai away, looked directly at him, her eyes full of emotion, but she didn't speak.
Mo Huai gently pinched her cheek and asked in a soft tone, "Is there something you want to say?"
Luo Wei nodded seriously, "Yes."
Mo Huai's tone was light, and his eyes were full of anticipation as he looked at her.
After a long time, Luo Wei looked up at him and asked, "Does the acquisition of Luo Corporation have anything to do with you?"
Mo Huai didn't hide it and smiled, "I was the one who acquired it."
"What?" Luo Wei's mouth fell open in disbelief. "Why did you do that? You didn't need to do it for me..."
Luo Wei immediately lowered her head, her expression heavy, her voice trembling slightly.
Mo Huai gently stroked her face with his large hand, his touch warm and tingly.
Mo Huai gazed at her, a smile on his lips as he said, "Weiwei, you don't like me doing this? Hmm?"
"I... I just don't think I'm worth all the trouble you're going through. I don't want to cause you so much trouble..." Luo Wei hurriedly explained, her voice growing softer.
She had lived for more than twenty years, and no one had ever cared for her like this. This man had brought so much change into her life. What had she done to deserve all his love?
Mo Huai suddenly chuckled, his voice deep and alluring. "Silly, I do all this because you are worth it. Do you know that? Your presence has brought me so much joy."
"I'm so lucky to have met you, Weiwei." Mo Huai buried his head in the crook of her neck, his breath warm against her ear, sending a tingling sensation through her.
"Really?" Luo Wei suddenly felt at ease. Perhaps all her luck over the years had accumulated for her to meet him.
"Then... could you let my dad find a job? They seem to be having a hard time now." Luo Wei pleaded for her family, even though she disliked them, but they had raised her.
"Alright." Mo Huai agreed, "I'll do as you wish."
Today, Luo Jianguo went to interview for a security guard position at a building. The job market was tough, and even though he had been a CEO, his age left him little choice but to take a low-level job.
As he entered the meeting room, Luo Jianguo greeted the manager and handed over his resume.
"Mr. Luo, please have a seat," the manager said warmly.
Luo Jianguo nodded slightly, smiled, and pulled out a chair to sit down.
The manager quickly skimmed through the resume, his brows furrowing briefly before he looked up.
"Mr. Luo, I've heard a lot about you. When you were making waves in the business world, I was still in school," the manager said with a laugh.
Luo Jianguo felt a bit awkward and remained silent.
The manager cleared his throat and explained, "What I mean is... Mr. Luo, you're a capable person. Isn't it a bit of a waste for you to be working as a security guard?"
The security guard job only paid 5,000 yuan a month and only covered meals, not accommodation. Back when Luo Corporation was doing well, the monthly profit was at least one or two million yuan. Could he really be interested in this job? Hiring him would also be good for the company, at least giving it some prestige, the manager thought to himself.
Luo Jianguo was stunned, silent for a few seconds before he said, "Times have changed. I have to provide for both the old and the young, and I don't have the luxury of choice. I hope your company will give me a chance."
Luo Jianguo's words were sincere, as if a Christian in a church was praying with utmost honesty.
The manager smiled, fiddling with his pen, "If Mr. Luo doesn't mind, you can start working tomorrow."
"The job details are all listed on the recruitment website. If you don't mind, shall we sign the employment contract now?" The manager said as he pulled a document from the drawer.
Hearing this, Luo Jianguo's pupils dilated, unable to believe that after months of job hunting, he had finally found a company willing to hire him.
Luo Jianguo nodded eagerly, repeatedly saying, "I'm willing, I'm willing."
After signing the contract, Luo Jianguo walked out of the building with a spring in his step. Standing at the entrance, he let out a heavy sigh.
He never imagined that after a lifetime of achievements, he would end up as a security guard. Living for more than half his life, he felt like a failure.
Luo Jianguo shook his head helplessly, tucked his briefcase under his arm, and took a bus home.
As soon as he walked in the door, Zhu Shulan, who was doing her nails in the living room, put down her tools when she saw him. "You're back? How did the interview go today?" Zhu Shulan asked tentatively.
"I got the job." Luo Jianguo replied, handing her the employment contract.
Zhu Shulan's face instantly lit up with joy. "Really? Let me see." She took the contract and began flipping through it page by page.
Her expression gradually shifted from joy to seriousness.
With a loud "smack," Zhu Shulan threw the contract aside, disdainfully saying, "What kind of job is this? You used to be a CEO, and now you're willing to apply for a security guard position?"
Zhu Shulan crossed her arms and angrily criticized him, cursing silently in her heart. What bad luck!
