AAUPIWSBLC Chapter 84 - Giving Birth is Like a Sow Farrowing

Luo Wei was seven months pregnant, her belly growing larger, and her body becoming increasingly heavy. Mo Huai had stopped working from the office entirely and, along with Wang Ma, was fully dedicated to taking care of her.

The weather was clear and sunny as Luo Wei nestled on the sofa, reading books on prenatal education and how to be a good mother. Wang Ma was diligently wiping down the table with a cloth, her hands moving swiftly.

Luo Wei gently put down the book in her hands, closed it, and turned her head to softly say, "Wang Ma."

Wang Ma paused what she was doing, looked up, and smiled. "Weiwei, what's the matter?"

Luo Wei hesitated, unsure how to begin. After a moment, she took a deep breath and then asked, "Wang Ma, can I ask you something?"

Her hesitation left Wang Ma puzzled. Wang Ma responded with surprise, "Just ask directly, don't hesitate. I might not be educated, so I don't know much about intellectual matters, but I do know a thing or two about life, hehe."

Luo Wei forced a dry laugh and said, "Wang Ma, um... I wanted to ask... Is natural childbirth really painful? It always looks so tough on TV."

After hearing this, Wang Ma laughed heartily and explained, "Oh, it's not that painful. When I gave birth to my first son, it hurt a bit, but when I had my second son, I didn't feel much at all. It was just like a sow farrowing—grit your teeth, and it’s over. You can't believe everything you see on TV."

Wang Ma laughed, showing her white teeth.

Luo Wei began to sweat slightly, thinking to herself, Is it really as simple as Wang Ma says? On TV, giving birth always looks so agonizing; it’s got me scared out of my wits.

Wang Ma thought for a moment, understanding that it was normal for a young woman to be afraid of giving birth for the first time, so she reassured her, "Weiwei, it's normal to be scared the first time, but don’t worry. Giving birth is really not that hard."

Wang Ma made a cheering gesture, trying to encourage her.

Luo Wei gave an awkward smile, feeling like Wang Ma was just trying to comfort her. Do I have prenatal anxiety? she wondered.

At that moment, Mo Huai came out of the kitchen with a glass of warm water.

"It's time to drink water," he said.

Luo Wei turned her head, took the glass from him, and gulped down the water.

"Slow down, don’t choke," Mo Huai gently reminded her, patting her back.

After finishing the water, Luo Wei handed the glass back to him. Mo Huai had set up a schedule for her to drink water—eight glasses a day, at specific times, and he always handed the water to her himself.

He also scheduled a daily nap time for her. If she was even a second late, she would face his stern reprimand.

"It’s nap time," Mo Huai said softly, glancing at the clock on the wall.

Luo Wei shrugged and pouted, muttering, "Can I play on my phone a little longer?"

"No," Mo Huai refused coldly, tapping her nose. "We can talk about it after you wake up."

Luo Wei pouted, thinking to herself, Even though he says we’ll talk after I wake up, based on his usual behavior, it’s just a trick to fool me.

Before she could react, Mo Huai scooped her up in his arms.

Instinctively, Luo Wei wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, inhaling the pleasant scent of sandalwood from him. She took a couple of deep breaths and lazily nestled against his neck.

Mo Huai glanced at the girl in his arms, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

He carried her back to the bed and tucked her in carefully.

Luo Wei's eyelids grew heavier, and she could barely make out his words, "Weiwei, don’t be afraid of giving birth. I’ll always be with you. I love you."

She couldn’t resist the drowsiness any longer and drifted off to sleep. That’s how it is with pregnant women—full of energy one moment, then off to meet the Sandman the next.

After dinner, Mo Huai was massaging her legs.

Because of her long nap earlier, Luo Wei had devoured her dinner like a starving wolf, eating two whole bowls of rice.

Wang Ma, seeing her healthy appetite, smiled with satisfaction, "Weiwei, you’re amazing! Eat more, you’re still too skinny." With that, she added a large drumstick to Luo Wei’s bowl.

Mo Huai, in a very good mood, smiled at her as well.

Now, Luo Wei was lying on the sofa, her legs draped over Mo Huai’s lap, while he focused intently on massaging her legs.

Mo Huai was careful, controlling the pressure as he gently massaged her calves, toes, and entire leg.

Luo Wei was sucking on a lollipop, looking rather content and relaxed.

Suddenly, something occurred to her. She took the lollipop out of her mouth and asked, "What did you say to me when I was napping earlier?"

She had heard something but wasn’t sure what, and her curiosity was piqued.

Mo Huai paused briefly, then turned to her, his gaze intense.

Luo Wei stared at him with wide, curious eyes, listening closely.

"I said, I love you," Mo Huai replied calmly, a faint smile playing on his lips, as if the words were the most natural thing in the world.

Luo Wei froze for a moment, her cheeks flushing red, all the way to her ears. How can he say that so seriously, so composed? she wondered.

Seeing her reaction, Mo Huai's smile grew more pronounced. "Turn around, let me get the back," he instructed.

Obediently, Luo Wei turned over, like a puppet, her face tinged with a blush.

I can't believe I’m blushing so easily, Luo Wei thought, lightly tapping her forehead. He’s confessing to me, and I like him too. I should respond enthusiastically!

She silently rehearsed her lines, ready to say, I love you too. But before she could, he interrupted her.

"All done. I’ll go cut some fruit," Mo Huai said, gently pulling her pants back down and speaking in a soft voice.

Luo Wei didn't think much of it and grabbed his arm just as he was about to get up.

Mo Huai paused, then smiled brightly, his voice low and seductive, "What’s the matter, hmm?"

Luo Wei stared straight at him, struggling to find the words, "I..."

She couldn’t bring herself to say it, feeling frustrated and lowering her head in defeat.

Understanding dawned on Mo Huai, and he gently pinched her cheek. "I already know. No need to explain."

Luo Wei’s mouth fell open in surprise. He already knows?

Mo Huai’s smile deepened. He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek.

She felt a wave of warmth, sweet and soft, spreading through her, leaving her feeling tingly all over as if she'd been struck by a current.

Before she could recover, Mo Huai had already turned and headed to the kitchen to cut some fruit.

It took Luo Wei a long time to come back to her senses. Embarrassed, she buried her face in a pillow, mumbling, "So embarrassing, so embarrassing. I should just hit my head on some tofu and die. Ugh, so embarrassing..."

But despite her embarrassment, her heart was filled with sweetness. Maybe this is what it feels like to be cherished by a man, she thought.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Mo Huai was slicing an apple. His gaze drifted towards the living room, where he saw her flailing her arms and burying her head in the pillow.

A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, his heart filled with a sense of warmth and tenderness.
