Su Yuxin was still grappling with the meaning of Chi Ye's earlier words when a familiar voice suddenly called out from behind.

"Yuxin."

Su Yuxin turned around, squinting her eyes, and stared as he jogged towards her. Chi Ye stood in front of her, his tall and slender figure seeming to envelop her under the moonlight. Su Yuxin moved her lips slightly, "You haven’t left yet."

She glanced at her watch, which showed midnight.

Chi Ye smiled and, tilting his head and touching his hair, gave a mischievous grin. "Sorry about earlier. We were playing Truth or Dare with some colleagues, and I lost the dare, so..."

Su Yuxin was silent for a few seconds before a sheepish smile crept onto her face. "Oh, it’s nothing. I thought..."

"Thought what?" Chi Ye frowned, looking at her meaningfully.

Su Yuxin patted his shoulder, her tense mood easing. "It’s fine if it wasn’t real. You almost gave me a scare."

Since childhood, Su Yuxin had lived with her grandmother after being abandoned by her parents. She had always adhered to the belief of remaining single and childless, avoiding reliance on men, due to her fear of marriage.

Chi Ye’s eyes briefly showed a hint of sadness, but his expression remained unchanged. He curved his lips slightly. "Thanks for not exposing me earlier."

"No need to mention it." Su Yuxin’s lips slightly parted, the moonlight casting a glow on her face, making her look radiant.

Chi Ye and Su Yuxin walked leisurely along the roadside. The bustling street was now eerily quiet.

The only sounds were their footsteps. The moonlight stretched their shadows long, making them look like lovers.

They chatted and laughed along the way. Suddenly, Su Yuxin stopped and stared at him intently.

Chi Ye, caught off guard by her gaze, became slightly breathless and his eyes darted around. "Is there something on my face?"

"Yes." Su Yuxin nodded and asked with concern, "How come you have a wound on your face again? Did you get into another fight?"

Chi Ye laughed, revealing his white teeth. "My brother did this."

"What?" Su Yuxin’s eyes widened in surprise, teasing, "He’s really ruthless."

Su Yuxin didn’t have a good impression of Chi Ye's brother, Qi Yu. Knowing how Qi Yu had treated Luo Wei, she hated him deeply and wished to avenge Luo Wei by any means.

In contrast, she had a completely different view of Chi Ye. He was not only lively and obedient but also very loyal. She treated him like a younger brother.

"Does it hurt?" Su Yuxin asked, concerned, reaching out to touch his wound.

Chi Ye was visibly startled but quickly masked his emotions. He then raised his tone slightly. "Not really."

"Men are tough. A minor injury isn’t a big deal." Chi Ye patted his chest and laughed lightly.

"Got it, tough guy." Su Yuxin teased.

She felt his good mood lifted her own somewhat, alleviating her earlier sadness.

Earlier that day, she had received a call from her mother asking her to come and see her. Her mother had cancer and didn’t have long to live. On the call, her mother sincerely apologized and expressed regret for abandoning her. She felt it was divine retribution for her past actions.

Su Yuxin was tormented by the abandonment and the prospect of her mother’s return in illness. She had hung up early, unable to forgive so easily.

After work, she had run to the high-end VIP club to drink away her troubles. She was startled when Chi Ye suddenly confessed his feelings. She had rejected many suitors in the past, leaving no room for chance.

Knowing Chi Ye’s confession was a result of losing a game, she was relieved. She had vowed never to date anyone, believing men to be unreliable, and didn’t want to end up with someone like her irresponsible father.

As the night grew late, the streetlights cast a yellowish glow. The cool breeze brushed against Su Yuxin’s face. She rubbed her arms and took a deep breath.

Suddenly, she felt a jacket draped over her shoulders. Blinking in surprise, she hesitated before saying, "Thank you."

Chi Ye gave a gentle smile but remained silent.

His jacket carried a faint, pleasant scent. Su Yuxin adjusted the jacket and smiled softly.

"My car is up ahead. I’ll give you a ride home," Chi Ye said, pointing to a luxurious black Rolls-Royce parked in front.

"Wouldn’t that be a bother? After all, my home is quite far from yours," Su Yuxin said awkwardly, feeling embarrassed.

She remembered the time Chi Ye had driven her home before, which took quite a while.

"It’s no trouble." Chi Ye’s tone was firm, his eyes flashing with a hint of coldness.

"Alright, thank you." Su Yuxin could no longer refuse and obediently got into the passenger seat.

Su Yuxin sat quietly, her hands resting naturally on her lap, waiting for him to start the car.

Suddenly, Chi Ye leaned in closer, his unique masculine scent filling her senses. Su Yuxin tensed up, her breathing momentarily forgotten, wondering what he was up to.

Chi Ye calmly fastened her seatbelt, then adjusted his position and drove off.

On the other side, Gao Zhenni clenched her fists tightly, her face a mix of fury and desperation, watching as the car sped away.

After the event, Xiao C had taken Xiao A home, and Xiao B had offered to drive her back, which she had declined, hoping that Chi Ye would take her home.

Everyone else had gone, and she searched for Chi Ye but couldn’t find him.

Feeling a bit disheartened and worried that Chi Ye might have left, she was determined to check if his car was still there.

Unexpectedly, Chi Ye’s car was still quietly parked by the roadside. Gao Zhenni’s face twisted into a grim smile as she crouched by the road.

The quiet night was a good opportunity to nurture her feelings. From the moment she started interning at the company, she had fallen for him at first sight.

Although there were many handsome colleagues, they all seemed inferior compared to Chi Ye.

Gao Zhenni pondered this while eagerly anticipating a sweet, private moment with him.

Despite her overly flattering behavior at the company and being teased by her colleagues, Chi Ye remained indifferent, showing little interest. Realizing this, Gao Zhenni felt a slight sting.

But her motto was to be like an indomitable cockroach—if he didn’t explicitly reject her, she wouldn’t give up.

A girl pursuing true love was brave.

At this moment, Gao Zhenni’s anger surged, her face alternating between green and white, her nails digging deeply into her palm as she stood rigidly in place.

A sinister smile curled at the corners of Gao Zhenni’s mouth as she plotted her next move.
