In the afternoon, Luo Wei changed into many glamorous outfits as the morning’s busy photoshoot was nearing its end.
During the break, Chi Ye hurried in, looking slightly disheveled but smiling. "Wow, handsome man and beautiful woman, a match made in heaven." Gu Chuyi, who was munching on an apple, asked in confusion, "Why are you here? Don’t you have work?"
"Exactly," Luo Wei echoed and added, "You didn’t skip work just to come here, did you?"
"Bingo," Chi Ye snapped his fingers nonchalantly.
Luo Wei's eye twitched, struck by surprise. "You actually skipped work?" Chi Ye nodded.
"Well, with his skills, even if Chi Ye skips work, the company wouldn’t dare say anything. That’s someone who earns his living based on merit," Gu Chuyi objectively analyzed, placing a hand leisurely on Chi Ye's shoulder.
Chi Ye flicked Gu Chuyi’s forehead and said proudly, "You always understand me. I’m here to supervise." Gu Chuyi glared at him, biting her words out. "That hurt, you know!" she said, emphasizing each word.
"Hehe, you were standing right next to me. Anyway, you really have a sharp eye." Gu Chuyi: ...
"Alright, just one more set of photos to go, and we’re done!" The photographer called out enthusiastically, and the staff got back to work after a quick stretch.
Luo Wei stood up, smiling, "I’ll go take the photos now. You two talk." Gu Chuyi waved her away, urging her, "Go, go, hurry up."
"Vivian, you got this! You’re the most beautiful today," Chi Ye cheered, making a cute, playful gesture.
Luo Wei couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head. After a moment, Mo Huai calmly pulled her close, leading her to the shoot.
The Bosch estate was a picturesque setting. The warm sunlight bathed Luo Wei’s face, making her look like an angel. Mo Huai, tall and aloof, stood by her side like a god, exuding elegance.
From time to time, whispers floated around from the female staff.
"Wow, look at the bride! She’s so beautiful, her skin is flawless, just like a newborn’s."
"Exactly! They’re the perfect couple, a match made in heaven."
"Being Mrs. Mo must be the ultimate dream. Did you see earlier? The groom was secretly teasing her—it was so sweet, better than any couple goals I’ve ever seen."
"Yeah, I saw! And the groom is so handsome! Doesn’t he look a bit like the famous star, Fu Chen?"
"Does he?"
"Yeah, but honestly, I think Mo is even more handsome, hehe."
Hearing Fu Chen's name, Gu Chuyi froze, her mind drifting far away, a bitter taste rising in her chest.
Her eyes stung with a sudden ache. She tried to suppress the emotions that had no place here but couldn’t help feeling a pang of sadness.
Since Fu Chen blocked her on every social media platform, it was as if he had never existed, like a gust of wind that vanished forever.
Frustration and regret gnawed at Gu Chuyi’s heart. She had her reasons back then, doing what she thought was best for him, yet somehow she became the villain.
And Fu Chen had shown no mercy, locking her out without a second thought. Gu Chuyi grumbled inwardly, calling him heartless. Men are all pigs, she fumed.
Inwardly, she cursed, “Hmph, I’m beautiful and radiant, with men lining up to chase me. Fu Chen is hardly worth a second thought!”
"What are you thinking about?"
"Hey, Gu Chuyi, are you daydreaming about some guy?" Chi Ye’s raised voice pulled her from her reverie, his gaze fixed on her.
Gu Chuyi was stunned, taking a moment to regain her composure. She had indeed been thinking of a man, but she couldn’t admit it. Chi Ye would never let her live it down.
Gathering her wits, Gu Chuyi smacked Chi Ye’s arm, feigning confidence. "What guy? You’re overthinking it."
Chi Ye smirked. "Sure, sure, no guy. It’s just that you seemed so out of it—I thought you were in love or something."
"None of your business!" Gu Chuyi retorted, as Chi Ye quickly grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds from the table and tossed them at her. The seeds scattered across her hair and clothes, igniting an expression of fury on her face. Through gritted teeth, she hissed, "You’re dead!"
With that, Gu Chuyi launched herself at him. Chi Ye didn’t manage to dodge in time, and Gu Chuyi pinned him down, making him cry out in mock agony.
"Ow! Can’t you be more ladylike? Be careful, or you’ll never get married."
Gu Chuyi refused to let go, teasing him with a grin. "If I can’t get married, I’ll just marry you."
Chi Ye’s eye twitched as he pleaded, "Alright, alright! I’m not worthy of you. Can you ease up a bit?"
"Oh really? Let’s see if you can handle more!" Gu Chuyi cried out mischievously.
"Ahh!" Chi Ye howled as Luo Wei and Mo Huai approached, their photoshoot finished. Seeing the ridiculous scene of Gu Chuyi pressing Chi Ye down, Luo Wei sighed. A deep, magnetic voice rang out from above her.
"So childish."
Luo Wei turned her head and nodded in agreement.
"Alright, if you keep hitting Chi Ye, it’ll count as a workplace injury," Mo Huai said, half-jokingly, making no move to intervene, clearly entertained by the spectacle.
Gu Chuyi, now wearing a bright smile, had completely shaken off her earlier gloom. At that moment, she laughed like a carefree child, finally releasing Chi Ye. Dusting off her hands, she lifted her chin proudly. "Let’s see if you dare tease me again."
Chi Ye stood up, brushing the dust off his clothes, feeling unexpectedly cheerful. He had noticed Gu Chuyi’s earlier heavy heart, but as her best friend, it was his duty to lift her spirits.
"Vivian, don’t you think Chi Ye deserves a beating?" Gu Chuyi quipped as she skipped over to Luo Wei and linked arms with her.
Luo Wei glanced at the disheveled Chi Ye, her eyes flickering with amusement. "I’ll stay neutral."
Gu Chuyi: …
Chi Ye shot Luo Wei a grateful look, as if to say, "Vivian, you always understand me."
With the photoshoot complete, the photographer and assistants packed up their equipment and left. Gu Chuyi and Chi Ye, now back to their usual banter, strolled off together, talking about who-knows-what.
"I’m heading back first. I’ll let you know once the photos are ready," Gu Chuyi called out, bouncing away with Chi Ye.
Luo Wei waved them off, her body finally succumbing to exhaustion. With a weary sigh, she collapsed onto the sofa.
"Baby, you’re tired, huh? Let me give you a massage," Mo Huai offered, sitting beside her and guiding her head to rest on his long legs. His hands worked their magic, as skilled as a professional masseuse.
Luo Wei’s entire body relaxed, her tense face softening as she praised him. "Hubby, you’ve got amazing hands."
Mo Huai gazed down at her with a smile, secretly thinking to himself that it was the least he could do after last night’s... passionate escapades. Seeing Luo Wei so drained today, his heart twinged with guilt. He silently vowed to control himself better next time, no matter how tempting the indulgence.
