Su Yuxin stretched lazily at the cash register. Since Xiao Qiu and Xiao Li came, the store's revenue had at least increased tenfold, thanks to their professional skills.
Xiao Qiu and Xiao Li were transferred from the Mo family's old residence because Weiwei was pregnant and feared the store would be busy. After Weiwei had the baby, she and Xiao Qiu and Xiao Li had also formed a bond.
Luo Wei clapped her hands and decided to keep Xiao Qiu and Xiao Li. She didn’t expect Mo Huai to happily agree as well. When Xiao Qiu and Xiao Li heard the news, they hugged each other tightly, overflowing with excitement.
“Yuxin, bye! See you tomorrow.”
“Bye!”
Xiao Qiu and Xiao Li walked out with their bags, smiles on their faces, greeting each other cheerfully.
“Bye!” Su Yuxin smiled back, responding cheerfully.
After they left, she busied herself for a while longer.
At this moment, the sky began to darken, and the lights of thousands of homes flickered on. She changed out of her work clothes and donned a light pink dress, her skin as smooth as cream, her figure graceful.
Then, she turned off all the lights in the room, preparing to lock the door. While she was still moving about, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye. Curious, she turned her head to look, and was immediately shocked, taking a long time to react.
“What are you doing...”
Chi Ye's deep eyes glinted with light as he walked over to her, speaking as if it were the most natural thing in the world, “I came to pick you up after work.”
Unbeknownst to her, Chi Ye had waited in the car for two hours, watching her busy figure, feeling ripples in his heart as he got out of the car only when he saw her closing the door.
Seeing that he seemed to have waited for a long time, Su Yuxin curiously asked, “When did you arrive?”
“Two hours ago.”
Upon hearing this, she widened her mouth, momentarily at a loss for words.
The two stood in silence, the moonlight casting a pure glow on their faces, reminiscent of the bright moon itself.
“Well… I’ll be leaving first.”
After dropping this line, Su Yuxin attempted to turn away, but he grasped her wrist tightly, his voice low and magnetic, “Let’s go together.”
“It’s not very convenient...” Su Yuxin politely declined, “We’re not headed in the same direction.”
“We are. I want to eat the curry fish balls from the shop downstairs.” Chi Ye looked at her with a half-smile, his gaze meaningful.
“Hmm?” Su Yuxin scratched her head, confused, “You can do as you please.”
Not wanting to deal with him, she was about to leave when suddenly someone picked her up horizontally. Su Yuxin screamed in fright, “Ah… what are you doing? I want to go home by myself.”
“We're going home together.” Chi Ye corrected her.
Fuming, Su Yuxin patted his back, struggling desperately as she rebutted, “You’re you, and I’m me…”
Chi Ye shoved her into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and when he leaned close, Su Yuxin felt tense and her breathing quickened as his warm breath brushed against her ear.
Her heart trembled, but she quickly suppressed this feeling deep inside.
After securing her seatbelt, Chi Ye circled the car, opened the driver’s door, took his seat, and started the engine.
The car sped forward, and Su Yuxin glanced at him from the corner of her eye, seeing him focused on driving, his eagle-like eyes unfathomable.
After a long time, she couldn’t help but speak, her voice sounding somewhat emotionless, “It’s impossible for us, so please don’t come looking for me again in the future.”
She mustered up the courage to say this. Anyone could understand what it meant; she was being so heartless, so cruel!
Once she made up her mind, she wouldn’t change it easily. She had no plans to marry or have children in this lifetime, and besides, she was five years older than Chi Ye and didn’t like relationships where the man was younger.
So her conclusion was—no matter what happened, they could never be together.
“Mm.” Chi Ye pondered for a moment, his face revealing no emotion.
“I won’t marry or have children in this lifetime, and... I’m older than you.”
“Mm.”
“I don’t like relationships where the man is younger.”
She reflected on this, and besides, she had promised Gao Zhenni to stay away from Chi Ye. A person shouldn't go back on their word; all of this was enough to give her a headache.
“Mm.”
Seeing his stubbornness, Su Yuxin’s face turned pale, and two flames flared up in her eyes as she raised her voice, “Are you even listening to me?”
Chi Ye’s hand on the steering wheel paused for a moment before he spoke.
“I know you don’t want to marry or have children, but that doesn’t affect us being together. Who says being together has to mean getting married or having kids?”
Upon hearing this, Su Yuxin was momentarily dumbfounded, choked up for a moment. She had always thought about not marrying or having children, so she couldn’t accept his pursuit, but he was willing to not marry or have children for her?
Chi Ye smiled lightly and continued to persuade her, “Not liking relationships where the man is younger can be overcome. I can mature; this won’t be hard for me.”
Su Yuxin: “……”
Chi Ye glanced at her and asked earnestly, “Do you really not feel anything for me at all?”
Su Yuxin’s back stiffened, her fingers curling, her heart pounding. Did she love Chi Ye?
She mentally questioned this, unsure of her own feelings. She still remembered how he suddenly came to visit her when she was sick; it would be a lie to say she wasn’t touched.
Thus, Su Yuxin chose not to answer, shifting the topic, “What are you doing here tonight?”
Chi Ye raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips as he patiently repeated, “I came to pick you up after work.”
Su Yuxin was speechless.
The car moved slowly, the quiet atmosphere in the car was particularly unsettling. While she was lost in thought, she suddenly heard the man beside her softly say, “I already know about Gao Zhenni looking for you.”
She was taken aback, turning to glare at him, moving her lips, “Did she tell you?”
“Mm, I rejected her.”
“What?” Su Yuxin instinctively replied.
It took a minute for her to process his words, pursing her lips and coldly laughing, “It seems she really likes you.”
“Oh?” Chi Ye narrowed his eyes, countering, “So you want me to be with her?”
Su Yuxin fell silent, her heart in turmoil. She couldn’t even figure out her own feelings toward Chi Ye; it wasn’t exactly love, but it wasn’t like she felt nothing either...
Why are there such confusing problems in this world? Su Yuxin silently asked the heavens.
After a long while, the car stopped at the apartment building. She unfastened her seatbelt, preparing to get out.
In a flash, someone yanked her back. Chi Ye's handsome face instantly loomed large in front of her. Su Yuxin frowned, her face slightly flushed as she asked in surprise, “You...”
Before she could finish her sentence, Chi Ye lowered his head, his thin lips kissing her. He cupped her face, his movements gentle and teasing.
Su Yuxin’s eyes widened in shock, her mind going blank as if she lost the ability to think.
Chi Ye conquered her lips, watching as Su Yuxin's face flushed, her eyes sparkling, purposely licking her lips, soft and sweet, making him addicted and entranced.
...
Su Yuxin didn’t know how she returned to the apartment. After closing the door, she felt as if under a spell, that kiss lingering in her mind—she had never experienced such a feeling before.
She raised her hand to caress her swollen red lips, feeling a mix of emotions in her heart. Her previous thoughts seemed to drift further away.
Realizing this, Su Yuxin slapped her cheeks, trying to wake herself up, puffing out her cheeks in disbelief.
“Men’s words are indeed not to be trusted; saying he wanted to eat curry fish balls was just an excuse, kissing her was the ultimate goal.”
