Gu Chuyi felt frustrated and kicked the two burly men beside her. “Why are you both drinking together? How am I supposed to take care of both of you by myself? It's so annoying!”
She looked up and suddenly saw Xu Kaifeng walking over leisurely. She rushed to greet him with a forced smile, “Assistant Xu, could I ask you for a favor?”
“Sure,” Xu Kaifeng nodded with a gentlemanly smile.
“That’s great!” Gu Chuyi clapped her hands and quickly continued, “My brother is drunk, and I need to take care of Fu Chen, so could you please help me take my brother to the hotel?”
Xu Kaifeng's gaze shifted to the sofa, where the two men were slumped over, asleep. His eyes were dark and inscrutable. “Okay.”
Gu Chuyi was overjoyed and praised him, “You’re such a good brother! I’ll leave my brother to you then; I’ll take Fu Chen back to the room first.”
After saying that, Gu Chuyi helped Fu Chen leave, while Xu Kaifeng withdrew his gaze and approached Gu Xiu. He softly asked, “Can you still walk?”
The air was awkward, and Gu Xiu couldn’t respond. Xu Kaifeng felt a surge of frustration; it seemed Gu Xiu couldn’t move. He leaned in closer and lifted Gu Xiu onto his shoulder. Supporting a man who was 1.80 meters tall while being 1.88 himself was quite a challenge, and they stumbled all the way.
After much effort, Xu Kaifeng finally managed to help the tall Gu Xiu back to the hotel, where Gu Xiu lay motionless on the bed.
Xu Kaifeng raised an eyebrow, his expression unchanged. After an indeterminate time, he gathered his thoughts and prepared to leave, adjusting the covers at the bed's edge.
As he turned to leave, an unusual sound interrupted him. He quickly looked back and saw Gu Xiu sprawled awkwardly on the floor. Xu Kaifeng couldn't help but smile, shaking his head.
He walked over to the bed, bent down to lift Gu Xiu, and suddenly felt his heart racing uncontrollably. As he focused, he realized that the man in his arms was incredibly handsome, exuding an alluring charm that seemed to draw others in.
Realizing something was off, he quickly composed himself, firmly locking away the suppressed thoughts he had been harboring for a long time.
“I still... want to drink,” Gu Xiu mumbled, his brow furrowed, his voice slightly hoarse.
“Don’t drink anymore; you’re drunk. Just rest well,” Xu Kaifeng coaxed him for a moment, then fell silent, thinking Gu Xiu had fallen asleep and preparing to leave.
Before he could rise, Gu Xiu suddenly grabbed his sleeve, pleading, “Stay.”
Xu Kaifeng’s lips curved into a strange smile as he repeated, “Stay?”
“Are you sure you want me to stay?” Xu Kaifeng felt flustered. He said this for Gu Xiu's benefit, but also to reassure himself.
After a long pause, Gu Xiu responded with determination, “Yes.”
The smile lines at the corners of Xu Kaifeng's eyes deepened, and he felt a hint of sweetness wash over him upon hearing Gu Xiu’s words, akin to the sweetness of lovers in love.
Suddenly, Gu Xiu opened his eyes, staring blankly at Xu Kaifeng. “I really hate this side of myself; my emotions are so unpredictable. I don’t know what to do.”
Xu Kaifeng felt a sharp pang in his heart as he understood what Gu Xiu meant; he felt the same way.
“I’ll always be here for you,” Xu Kaifeng said steadily, wanting to give him a sense of security.
Gu Xiu looked up, overwhelmed with words he couldn’t express. He felt frustrated, confused, and afraid of being trapped by someone.
Xu Kaifeng gently cupped Gu Xiu's face and kissed him tenderly, and in that moment, Gu Xiu completely surrendered.
That night was destined to be sleepless, with long-suppressed feelings finally erupting. Gu Xiu actively kissed back, passionately and lingeringly.
——
Bang, bang—
The loud knocking on the door startled the man in bed. Gu Xiu frowned, rubbing his sleepy eyes and feeling irritable. “Who is it?”
“Brother, are you up?” Gu Chuyi shouted from outside. Gu Xiu silently counted to five in his mind, and when the time was up, he immediately got up.
He opened the door, and Gu Chuyi swaggered in. “Did you sleep well last night?”
“Not really, but it would have been better without your knocking,” Gu Xiu said, feeling the headache from the hangover as he rubbed his forehead with his long fingers.
Gu Chuyi looked around and casually asked, “Oh, has Assistant Xu already left so early?”
Hearing the name “Assistant Xu,” Gu Xiu felt a chill run down his spine as memories of the previous night flooded back. He remembered kissing Assistant Xu—OMG!
Gu Xiu steadied his nerves and responded sheepishly, “He must have left last night.”
“Oh,” Gu Chuyi replied casually and urged him to hurry up, wash up, and have breakfast before heading home.
Gu Xiu mumbled a few replies, and Gu Chuyi swaggered out again.
When did Assistant Xu leave? He thought back, remembering how he couldn’t control his emotions last night, leading to that kiss.
Did Assistant Xu like him?
These chaotic thoughts made Gu Xiu feel dizzy as he headed to the bathroom, letting the rushing water wash over him, hoping to erase those thoughts.
After washing up, Gu Xiu went downstairs and bumped into Chi Ye and Su Yuxin, who were holding hands and flirting. “Good morning.”
“Good morning!”
Chi Ye looked radiant, obviously having slept well the previous night, a smile adorning his face. “We won’t be having breakfast; I’ll take Yuxin back to the store first. You guys take your time.”
Hearing this, Gu Chuyi scoffed, “Hurry up and go; it’s too early for dog food—can’t stand it!”
Su Yuxin stifled a laugh and retorted, “You’re quick to criticize others but not yourself.” She winked ambiguously at Gu Chuyi.
Suddenly, Gu Chuyi had a realization. It seemed her moans were indeed a bit loud last night, but did she have super hearing?
This hotel was the most luxurious in Yanjing, with excellent soundproofing. “Did you hear that?”
Su Yuxin rolled her eyes, exasperated. “I was talking about how you and Fu Chen show off your affection. Isn’t it enough?”
“Ha ha.” Gu Chuyi awkwardly forced a smile, “Sorry, I guess I’ve shown too much affection; I’ll tone it down a bit in the future.”
After Chi Ye and Su Yuxin left, Gu Xiu, Gu Chuyi, and Fu Chen had breakfast together.
Gu Chuyi noticed something and asked in confusion, “Brother, how come your lips are all swollen?”
Gu Xiu, who was sipping coffee, suddenly spat it out, hurriedly grabbing a tissue to wipe his mouth.
“Xiu Ge, don’t react so strongly; it looks like someone kissed you,” Fu Chen teased, wearing an expression of a spectator enjoying a show.
“Right! Now that you mention it, it does look like you were kissed,” Gu Chuyi said, suddenly enlightened. She wanted that experience too; she often left Fu Chen with swollen lips.
Gu Xiu organized his thoughts, trying to stabilize his tone. “I accidentally bit myself.”
“Accidentally bit yourself?”
The two exclaimed in unison, staring at him in disbelief.
“Yeah.”
The air grew cold.
After a while, Gu Chuyi teased Gu Xiu, “You were with Assistant Xu last night. I saw him help you back to your room, and there were no girls around. It’s unlikely someone else kissed you, brother; I believe you might have bitten your own lips.”
Fu Chen tapped Gu Chuyi’s head gently, his voice soft, “You two siblings are really something.”
Gu Xiu’s expression softened, and he rubbed his finger over his swollen lip, the sensation lingering there. It was soft and sweet, making him feel as though he hadn’t had enough and wanted more!
