Luo Wei and Mo Huai returned to her small rental apartment. The single room, barely 20 square meters, showed its age with peeling outer walls and patches of moss growing on them.
Luo Wei pulled out her keys and unlocked the door, then turned to Mo Huai with an awkward smile. "Come in, it’s a bit old and shabby, so please don't mind."
Mo Huai, with his long strides, entered the apartment. Curious, he asked, "How long have you been living here?"
"About three years. The rent is cheap," Luo Wei replied.
Mo Huai nodded in response and began to take in the small but cozy space. Although the room was small, the female owner had decorated it warmly, keeping it clean and tidy.
"You can sit for a while. I'll pack my things," Luo Wei said, pouring a glass of water and placing it next to him.
"Alright," Mo Huai agreed with a nod.
Luo Wei then retrieved her suitcase. She didn’t have many belongings, just one suitcase and a backpack, which was more than enough. It didn’t take long for her to finish packing.
She was about to turn around and tell Mo Huai that she was ready when she noticed that his gaze had been fixed on her the entire time. When their eyes met, Luo Wei felt as if she had been scorched. Quickly, she averted her eyes, a blush spreading across her cheeks.
The man beside her pretended to clear his throat, his deep, rich voice breaking the silence. "Let's go."
Mo Huai took the initiative, picking up her suitcase and backpack. The 32-inch suitcase seemed effortlessly light in the hands of the tall man. Luo Wei followed behind him as they made their way to the Supreme Mansion.
Mo Huai placed the suitcase in the trunk and then took the driver's seat, fastening his seatbelt. Luo Wei bent down to get into the car, her heart racing in the confined space. The scent of sandalwood from Mo Huai filled her senses as he drove, his slender fingers occasionally adjusting the steering wheel.
After a while, the Maybach turned into the tree-lined avenue of the Supreme Mansion. When the car came to a stop, Mo Huai opened the door and pulled out the suitcase. "We’re here."
"Okay, thank you," Luo Wei said softly, a smile tugging at her lips.
Luo Wei followed Mo Huai into the house, her eyes wide as she took in the spacious home, at least 200 square meters. The house was eerily quiet, almost too quiet, as if it had never been lived in.
"Do you live here alone?" Luo Wei asked, her curiosity piqued as she continued to explore the luxurious surroundings.
"Yes," Mo Huai replied, having already taken off his black suit jacket, revealing the toned muscles of his forearms, with his sleeves rolled up halfway.
"Isn't it lonely?" Luo Wei asked, her mouth slightly open in wonder.
"It won’t be lonely anymore with you here," Mo Huai said, his words causing Luo Wei’s face to flush red.
Luo Wei quickly suppressed her flustered emotions, forcing a smile as she decided not to continue the conversation.
Meanwhile, Luo Qianqian sat at her dressing table, applying an expensive cream to her fair fingers with gentle strokes. Ever since Luo Wei ran away from home, Chi Yu had grown even colder toward her, even refusing to answer her calls.
As she thought about Luo Wei, a small flame of jealousy ignited in her heart. Although Chi Yu had been indifferent, she believed that if she tried hard enough, he would eventually see her in a new light.
Luo Qianqian picked up her phone from the dressing table and dialed his number. To her surprise, the call was answered within three seconds.
"Yu-ge, you finally answered my call! Why have you been ignoring me?" Luo Qianqian whined in a coy voice.
On the other end, Chi Yu had just finished his workout and was about to shower. When his phone vibrated, he took it out and saw that it was Luo Qianqian calling. He was about to hang up, but then Luo Wei’s face flashed through his mind. Ever since she had left home, she had vanished without a trace, and whenever he tried to call her, the line was busy. Chi Yu knew Luo Wei was angry and had blocked him.
After three seconds of hesitation, he answered the call, only to be met with Luo Qianqian's complaints. His expression darkened, and he felt a wave of irritation.
"I’ve been busy lately," he replied curtly.
"Hmph, Yu-ge never ignored me before. Is it because of Luo Wei?" Luo Qianqian asked, her tone sulky.
Chi Yu's anxiety spiked at the mention of Luo Wei. "Has she gone home?"
"No," Luo Qianqian quickly denied.
"Where is she? Has she contacted you or Aunt Zhu? Is she alone? Can you reach her?" Chi Yu bombarded her with questions, his voice laced with concern.
Luo Qianqian's fists clenched tightly, her nails digging into her palms as she listened to his worried inquiries. A plan formed in her mind, and she interrupted him, speaking slowly. "Yu-ge, I know you're worried about my sister, but she probably doesn’t need your concern anymore because..."
She trailed off, deliberately leaving the sentence unfinished.
Chi Yu, suspicious, pressed her, "Because of what?"
"Because she's with another man now. That's why she's been ignoring calls from me and Mom."
"Who is he?" Chi Yu demanded, his voice tense.
"The man you saw last time at our house, the one who left the kiss marks on her."
Chi Yu froze for a few seconds, his expression darkening with anger before he abruptly ended the call.
Luo Qianqian stared at the phone with a satisfied smirk.
Chi Yu clenched his fists, his lips tightly pressed together as a dangerous glint flashed in his eyes. He had been patient with her long enough; she shouldn’t push her luck.
Luo Wei was about to move her luggage into the guest room, initially planning to sleep on the couch herself. Now that she had a guest room to sleep in, she felt content.
But as she began to carry her luggage upstairs to the guest room, Mo Huai raised an eyebrow and stepped forward to block her path.
"Mr. Mo, you..."
"We’re legally married now."
"Yes, I know. I just want to put my things away," Luo Wei responded.
Luo Wei curled her fingers and politely explained.
Could it be that she wasn't even allowed to stay in the guest room? Was he implying she should sleep on the sofa? A flurry of doubts flashed through her mind as she stared at the man in front of her.
What he said next made her eyes widen in disbelief, and she rubbed her ears hard, wondering if she had heard correctly.
Mo Huai's voice was steady as he said, "We’re married, so we should share one room."
His tone was calm, but fearing she might refuse, he added, "It will also make it easier for me to take care of you since you’re pregnant."
Luo Wei realized she had no reason to refuse. As the father of the child, it was his responsibility to take care of her. Besides, she was pregnant, and she trusted that he wouldn't do anything inappropriate. Mr. Mo was incredibly gentlemanly—the most considerate man she had ever met.
"Alright," Luo Wei agreed.
Hearing her response, Mo Huai’s lips curled into a slight smile. He carried the suitcase to the master bedroom and instructed Luo Wei to rest on the bed.
He opened the suitcase and began neatly organizing her clothes. When he reached the bottom, he found her undergarments in his hands. Luo Wei's face flushed, and her breath quickened.
Mo Huai carefully placed the undergarments in the closet and then noticed Luo Wei’s unusual expression. His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly moved to her side, his brows furrowed with concern.
"What's wrong, Wei Wei?" he asked, placing his warm palm on her forehead to check her temperature. Her face was so red—was she running a fever?
"Your forehead feels normal," Mo Huai murmured, leaning closer to look into her eyes.
Flustered, Luo Wei grabbed a piece of sleepwear and rushed into the bathroom. "I'll take a shower first," she said hastily.
Realizing what had caused her embarrassment, Mo Huai’s lips curved into a slightly mischievous smile.
