When Luo Wei and Su Yuxin left the hot pot restaurant, it was already 10 p.m. The night was deep, and a cold wind swept across their faces. Luo Wei pulled her clothes tighter.

"It's been so long since we last had hot pot together. I feel so satisfied," Su Yuxin remarked, patting her slightly bulging belly from being so full.

"We made 80,000 yuan in profit this month, so it's definitely necessary to celebrate with a good meal," Su Yuxin said contentedly, a small smile playing on her lips.

Luo Wei replied awkwardly, "That's great," but she couldn't shake the feeling of unease.

Had she forgotten something?

"Let's head home," Su Yuxin suggested.

Suddenly, Luo Wei remembered that she wasn’t living alone—there was a man at home. She wondered if he would be waiting for her. Shaking her head, she realized that her phone hadn't rung all evening; perhaps he was already asleep. Still, she pulled out her phone to check for any WeChat messages. After pressing the button a few times without success, she realized that her phone had died. She had left home in such a rush that morning that the low battery couldn't last until now.

Luo Wei turned to Su Yuxin with a serious expression. "Sister Xin, I should head back."

"Alright, be careful on the way."

After parting ways with Su Yuxin, Luo Wei quickly hailed a taxi and headed to Supreme Mansion.

After a short while, the car stopped on the tree-lined street. Luo Wei paid the fare and walked home. When she opened the door, the house was dark and silent.

"He must have gone to bed early," Luo Wei thought to herself, trying not to overthink it. With a cold smile, she headed to her room to charge her phone.

Just as she took a few steps, she suddenly heard the sound of the front door unlocking. Luo Wei furrowed her brows, a strange emotion flickering across her face.

"Who’s there?" Luo Wei instinctively called out.

The person outside, hearing her voice, immediately pushed the door open and entered. Luo Wei jumped in surprise. Mo Huai stood there, looking weary, but a cold, angry aura emanated from him.

Luo Wei forced an awkward smile. "Mr. Mo, are you just getting off work?"

Mo Huai stared at her intensely, exuding a cold and noble presence.

Without responding, Mo Huai took a step closer to her. Luo Wei grew nervous under his gaze and tried to change the subject. "Well, goodnight then."

Just as she was about to turn and head to her room, she heard his deep, magnetic voice. "I went looking for you."

"What?" Luo Wei's eyes widened, her lips trembling as if she couldn't believe he had actually gone looking for her.

"I'm sorry... I went back to the shop today and had dinner with a friend tonight," Luo Wei stammered, her back straightening with tension.

She noticed that Mo Huai's body seemed tense, and he wasn't in a good mood. Lowering her head, Luo Wei felt like a child who had done something wrong—a child who shouldn’t have stayed out late.

"You went looking for me? All night?" Luo Wei asked hesitantly.

"Yes."

Hearing his response, a wave of guilt washed over her. "I'm sorry..."

Luo Wei didn't dare to look up at him, her voice as soft as a whisper as she apologized again.

A few seconds later, Mo Huai's fingers suddenly tilted her face upwards. His eyes were burning with intensity, his gaze unwavering as he parted his thin lips.

"Don’t ever let me lose contact with you again."

Mo Huai’s tall and imposing figure made the girl seem delicate and small in comparison. Luo Wei looked up and quickly nodded in agreement. "Alright, Mr. Mo."

"And one more thing."

"What is it?" Luo Wei's eyes widened with curiosity, her gaze expectant as she waited for him to continue.

"Don’t call me Mr. Mo."

"Then what should I call you?"

"Something that suits our current relationship."

Mo Huai's eyes curved into a beautiful arc as he teased the girl in front of him.

"Brother Huai?" Luo Wei fluttered her eyelashes and grinned. "Or... husband?"

Mo Huai hadn't expected the girl to tease him back, and his eyes narrowed as his smile softened.

"Either one is fine."

Luo Wei was only joking, but to her surprise, he allowed it. They were only in a contract marriage after all. No one could guarantee what the future held. She knew better than to expect too much—something she had learned from a young age.

The next morning, as usual, Mo Huai had prepared breakfast, and today it included Luo Wei’s favorite pan-fried dumplings. After Luo Wei got up, he had already left for work.

Just as Luo Wei sat down, her phone suddenly rang.

“Ring—”

Luo Wei glanced at the screen, a smile forming on her lips. She hadn't seen Gu Chuyi since he went on a business trip.

"Chuyi, you’re back?"

"I just got back today. How’s the business going? I’ll bring Yuanbao to the shop for grooming later."

"Sounds good."

They chatted for an hour before hanging up.

After finishing breakfast, Luo Wei tidied up the dishes and prepared to leave. Although Mo Huai had told her she didn’t need to clean up and could wait until he got home, she didn’t want to become someone who couldn't take care of herself. Mo Huai was very private, so he didn't hire any housekeepers. He managed to take care of things before the pregnancy, too.

As soon as Luo Wei reached the entrance of her shop, she saw Gu Chuyi walking toward her with Yuanbao in his arms.

“Yuanbao, I’ve missed you so much,” Luo Wei said as she hugged Yuanbao tightly. “Did you finish your work trip?” she asked, turning to Gu Chuyi.

“Of course! When I’m on the job, everything gets done,” Gu Chuyi replied confidently.

“Did you leave home?”

“Yes,” Luo Wei nodded.

Hearing this, Gu Chuyi smiled, “You should have left a long time ago. You don’t need that kind of bloodsucking family. Don’t worry, from now on, I’ll be your family,” Gu Chuyi said, patting Luo Wei’s shoulder to comfort her.

"I won't go back again," Luo Wei muttered, her lips tightening slightly.

It had been a long time since Yuan Bao's fur had been trimmed. Luo Wei carried Yuan Bao inside, planning to start with a haircut. Suddenly, a wave of nausea hit her. She handed Yuan Bao to Gu Chuyi, who was standing nearby, and quickly ran to the restroom. Seeing this, Gu Chuyi followed her with concern.

"Weiwei, what's wrong?" Gu Chuyi asked anxiously, gently patting Luo Wei's back with her slender hand.

"Ugh—" Luo Wei's face turned pale, her trembling hands becoming icy cold, and a layer of sweat formed on her forehead.

"Weiwei, are you okay?" Gu Chuyi asked, her worry growing.

"I'm fine, probably just ate something bad," Luo Wei replied, standing up and forcing a faint smile. Her voice grew faint.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Gu Chuyi was still uncertain.

"Really," Luo Wei reassured her, taking Yuan Bao back from Gu Chuyi's arms.

Just then, Su Yuxin returned to the shop and saw Luo Wei vomiting. Concern laced her voice as she said, "Weiwei, if you're not feeling well, go home and rest. I can handle the shop by myself."

"No need, Sister Xin, I'm fine," Luo Wei responded, regaining her composure.

Su Yuxin watched as Luo Wei and Gu Chuyi walked into the room, her eyes dark and unreadable. While Gu Chuyi was pure-hearted and kind, Su Yuxin had faced many hardships since she was young, learning to navigate the tough realities of life.

Luo Wei's expression couldn’t deceive her—she was definitely hiding something important. Su Yuxin frowned, determined to uncover the truth.
