Gu Xiu had just completed the transfer of property with the real estate agent and was preparing to deliver the property certificate to Mo Huai. Holding a document envelope, he got into his car, started the engine, and headed towards Supreme Mansion.

Before long, the car came to a stop in front of Supreme Mansion.

"Ring ring—" Gu Xiu's slender fingers pressed the doorbell.

"Young Master Gu, you're here," Wang Ma said as she opened the door, pausing for a moment before a kind smile appeared on her face.

"Yes, Wang Ma," Gu Xiu responded as he walked inside.

Wang Ma closed the door and pointed towards the second floor. "The young master is discussing business with Assistant Xu. He told me to have you go straight up."

"Alright, thank you, Wang Ma," Gu Xiu smiled and nodded, then headed upstairs.

"Knock knock—"

"Come in," Mo Huai's clear voice sounded.

Gu Xiu quietly pushed open the door and stepped inside. He glanced at the formally dressed Xu Kaifeng before shifting his gaze. "Young Master Mo, I've taken care of what you asked." Gu Xiu waved the document envelope in his hand.

Mo Huai looked at the envelope Gu Xiu held up and turned to Xu Kaifeng. "That's all for today. You can leave now."

Xu Kaifeng nodded. "Alright." He turned and left, closing the door behind him.

"I have to say, your assistant is pretty reliable. You pay him, so why don't you have him run errands like this?" Gu Xiu grumbled, pouting.

Mo Huai looked at him for a while before speaking. "Assistant Xu has other tasks I've assigned him. Aren't you planning to take a long vacation after your surgery? I found something to keep you busy."

Gu Xiu's mouth twitched. What did he do wrong? Why does Mo Huai always ruin his beautiful vacations?

"Hand it over," Mo Huai said calmly, with a slight smile.

Gu Xiu raised his hands in surrender and handed over the document envelope.

Mo Huai took the envelope, opened it with his long fingers, and took out the property certificate, holding it close with a satisfied smile.

After a while, Gu Xiu left the study and, as he descended the stairs, he noticed a man's figure.

Gu Xiu was surprised, and Xu Kaifeng turned to look at him. "You're... still here?" Xu Kaifeng had his hands in his pockets, seemingly waiting for someone. "Yes," he replied.

Gu Xiu didn't think much of it and started walking again, but then he heard a hoarse voice behind him. "Could you give me a ride?"

Gu Xiu stopped in his tracks, turned around, and frowned.

"My car broke down," Xu Kaifeng explained. "Last time, I gave you a ride when you needed it. Now it's your turn."

"Oh," Gu Xiu replied, drawing out the word thoughtfully. How convenient that his car broke down—was this man up to something?

Though Gu Xiu had these thoughts, he said, "Alright, let's go together." The two of them left Supreme Mansion side by side.

The car drove along the road in silence, the cramped interior so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

The pleasant scent of oranges from the man beside him filled Gu Xiu's nose, making him grip the steering wheel tighter.

Gu Xiu stole glances at Xu Kaifeng from the corner of his eye, emotions hidden deep in his gaze that no one could decipher.

Suddenly, Xu Kaifeng turned his head to look at him, and Gu Xiu jumped, quickly retracting his gaze.

The atmosphere in the car dropped to freezing.

"Just drop me off at the café up ahead," Xu Kaifeng said, his thin lips barely moving.

Gu Xiu frowned but said nothing, only responding with a simple "Okay."

He pulled the car over and released the gas pedal. While Xu Kaifeng was unfastening his seatbelt, Gu Xiu took the opportunity to secretly observe him again—sharp features, a defined jawline, and a righteous demeanor—all exuding an independent charm.

Xu Kaifeng caught the heat of Gu Xiu's gaze and quickly averted his eyes, feeling embarrassed.

Xu Kaifeng smiled slightly and said in a gentle tone, "Thanks, I'll be going now."

"Yeah," Gu Xiu replied absently, lost in thought.

After a while, Gu Xiu snapped out of it and patted his forehead, muttering, "What's wrong with me? Why does my heart race when I see Assistant Xu? I'm a doctor, but it seems like I've been bewitched or something."

Shaking his head to clear his mind, Gu Xiu started the car again, trying to dismiss the strange thoughts.

Luo Wei sat on the sofa, smiling warmly as she video chatted with Mo Huai's parents.

It was Mo Huai's parents' wedding anniversary, and they were discussing how to celebrate their 29th anniversary. After days of deliberation with no results, Mo Huai's father finally agreed to his wife's request under her insistence. They decided on Rome, a city rich in art, culture, and romance.

It was evening back home, but in Rome, it was noon. Mo Huai's parents were sitting by the roadside, enjoying some snacks and coffee, with the sun shining on their faces as they smiled contentedly.

"Weiwei, your belly is getting bigger. Remember to rest more and not overwork yourself, okay?" Mo Huai's mother squinted her eyes, frequently reminding her.

"Yes, yes," Mo Huai's father chimed in from the side.

"I know, thank you for your concern, Mom and Dad," Luo Wei replied sweetly, her eyes curving into a smile.

Mo Huai's mother frowned slightly and said, "Weiwei, it's only been a month or two since I last saw you, but I feel like you've lost weight."

Luo Wei smiled awkwardly. Ever since she got pregnant, people kept telling her she looked thinner, even though she felt like she was eating much more than before.

"No, Mom, it must be the camera filter. I weighed myself this morning, and I’ve actually gained three pounds," Luo Wei explained.

"Haha, that's good," Mo Huai's mother chuckled, elegantly sipping her coffee.

Suddenly, Father Mo's serious voice came through, "Where did that brat go? How can he just disappear in the middle of the conversation? Is he ignoring Weiwei again?" Hearing this, Luo Wei turned her head to look at the man beside her and covered her mouth to stifle a laugh.

At the beginning, Luo Wei and the man were video chatting together, but since Father and Mother Mo were so focused on showing concern for Luo Wei, he felt out of place. Mo Huai gave up on the conversation and quietly sat alone in a single armchair.

Luo Wei stopped laughing, cleared her throat, and explained, "Dad, Mo Huai isn't ignoring me, hehe."

"Don’t say that. The smile on your face looks forced, not the genuine one you show us. Don’t defend that brat. No one knows a son better than his father..." Father Mo continued, while Mo Huai suddenly leaned into the phone screen, looking as if he were wronged, "Dad, can you stop criticizing me in front of Weiwei?"

Mo Huai shrugged, his expression dark. Although his father had always been strict with him, it was hard for him to accept being criticized in front of the girl he loved...

"If you fulfill your duties as a good husband, I wouldn't have to criticize you," Father Mo said, getting slightly emotional when Mo Huai talked back.

"Alright, alright, enough with the nonsense," Mother Mo interrupted coldly, her voice raised slightly, drawing curious glances from the nearby tables.

Father Mo instantly fell silent and lowered his head, fiddling with his coffee.

"Weiwei, I’m sorry we can’t be with you for your birthday next week. I've already sent your birthday gift back home," Mother Mo said with a gentle smile.

Luo Wei paused, realizing that her birthday was next week. She smiled and said, "It's okay, Mom. I have friends to celebrate with. Thank you." After speaking, she sneaked a glance at the man beside her, secretly making plans. This would be the first time he would be with her for her birthday.

When she was a child, Zhu Shulan only celebrated Luo Qianqian's birthday, leaving her alone without a cake or any blessings.

After meeting Chi Ye, Xu Yuxin, and Gu Chuyi, they began celebrating her birthdays with her, and she felt deeply content.

This year, she thought it would be wonderful to have a simple meal with Mo Huai and her friends for her birthday.
