Luo Wei lay in bed scrolling through her phone as Mo Huai emerged from the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel.

Seeing him come out, Luo Wei tossed her phone aside and sat up, watching him with a composed expression.

Mo Huai shook his hair, then sat down beside her, his voice low and husky. "What's up?"

Luo Wei lifted the corners of her mouth, smiling brightly. "Brother Huai, there's something I really want. Can you buy it for me?"

Without hesitation, Mo Huai agreed, "Sure."

"That's great!" Luo Wei exclaimed excitedly, hugging him tightly, her face pressed against his chest.

He still carried the faint scent of shower gel, which wafted pleasantly into her nose. Luo Wei's smile turned devious as she opened her phone’s photo gallery and handed it to him. "Hehe, I want this."

Mo Huai took the phone, glanced at it, and his expression suddenly became serious as he squinted. "This isn’t available domestically; it’s only in Europe."

"Bingo," Luo Wei said with a snap of her fingers and sparkling eyes. "I really want it. Will you buy it for me?"

She looked at him with eager anticipation, her eyes full of affection.

Mo Huai furrowed his brows slightly, his lips parting to speak. "Did Assistant Xu tell you about this?"

Luo Wei was taken aback for a moment but quickly covered it up. "What Assistant Xu? I’m talking about this Mozart chocolate and a special crystal ball."

She widened her eyes, staring at him as if to say she had no idea but just really wanted these two European items.

Mo Huai smiled faintly, adhering to his principle of seeing through but not exposing things. He gently stroked her hair. "I can buy anything for you, but you’ll have to wait until after you’ve had the baby, okay?"

"I don’t want to wait," Luo Wei pouted, clinging to his sleeve and acting spoiled. "I want it now. I might not like it later. Please buy it for me now. I’ll be good at home, okay?"

Mo Huai shook his head.

Luo Wei continued to persuade him, "I promise I’ll call you every day to check in. With Wang Ma here, I’ll be fine. I swear."

As she spoke, she held up three fingers near her ear.

Mo Huai pinched her cheek and interrupted coldly, "If I said no, then it’s no."

Upon hearing his words, Luo Wei's heart sank. It seemed she would have to pull out all her tricks.

Crying, making a fuss, and throwing a tantrum.

After much persuasion, Mo Huai reluctantly boarded the plane to Europe.

At the airport, Xu Kaifeng winked at her, as if saying she had her way, and gave her a thumbs-up.

Mo Huai gently embraced Luo Wei, his voice full of reluctance. "Remember to take good care of yourself and answer my calls every day, okay?"

Luo Wei’s nose felt sour; parting was always hard. She had thought she would be happy to send him off, but now that he was really leaving, she felt an emptiness inside.

It was like someone had dug a hole in her heart, and tears welled up in her eyes. "I’ll take good care of myself."

She managed a smile that was more painful than crying.

Mo Huai tenderly touched her nose. "Silly, I’ll be back soon."

He pressed his forehead against hers, his breath warm and gentle on her face.

"Mm," Luo Wei nodded, feeling a sense of emptiness. She had been looking forward to him leaving, so why did she suddenly feel so sad?

After lingering for a moment, Mo Huai boarded the plane with Xu Kaifeng, heading to Europe.

Mo Huai had arranged for a driver to take her home. Sitting in the car, Luo Wei felt downcast. She rested her head against the window, thinking about how among all the planes in the sky, one of them was his.

Feeling dejected, she waved at the planes in the sky, promising herself to see him in a week.

On the first day of his departure, without his morning kiss, his hugs, or the toothpaste he prepared for her, Luo Wei was in a gloomy mood. She felt strangely uncomfortable and restless.

"Wai Wei, what’s wrong? Are you feeling down?" Wang Ma noticed her absent-mindedness and asked with concern.

Luo Wei looked up, forcing a smile. "Nothing."

Her voice trailed off, a hint of sorrow in her eyes.

Wang Ma sighed, having noticed her mood since she returned from the airport the day before. It seemed she missed the eldest young master’s departure. Young people in love always find parting hard, she understood.

Wang Ma comforted her. "The eldest young master will be back soon. Be good, and you’ll see him before you know it."

Luo Wei paused, feeling a bitter smile in her heart. Was her sadness that obvious? Even Wang Ma could tell she was thinking about him.

She forced a dry smile. "No, Wang Ma, it’s just pregnancy hormones. Mo Huai is dealing with work, haha."

Wang Ma looked at her, her face brightening. "Pregnant women need to stay positive. How about I accompany you to the park to get some fresh air?"

Luo Wei shook her head. "No, I want to stay at home."

As she spoke, she focused on her phone screen. After receiving only a few brief messages from him, she had hung up. Although she missed him, she hoped he could rest well after such a long flight.

It was morning in China, and it was still early in Europe. He was probably still asleep, she thought.

Luo Wei picked up her phone and opened Mo Huai’s WeChat chat window, which last showed his location after arriving in Europe.

She stared at the screen, typing and deleting messages repeatedly.

She felt so restless, lacking interest in everything. She was the one who had let him go and sent him away, yet she was already feeling miserable after just one day.

Her mood was just like Lu Yiping’s when she parted from He Shuhuan—aching and endless, as if time dragged on.

The only difference was that she didn’t keep a diary like Lu Yiping.

Late at night, she lay in bed, closing her eyes as his face flashed through her mind. Luo Wei tossed and turned restlessly.

Sitting up, she tossed aside the silk quilt and turned on the bedside lamp.

Picking up her phone from the nightstand, she hoped to find a message from him.

Opening WeChat, she indeed found a new message from him. Luo Wei hurriedly opened it.

Instead of text, it was a voice message. Luo Wei tapped on it, and Mo Huai’s deep, husky voice came through clearly.

【Just finished a meeting and returned to the hotel. It’s early morning back home, so you should be asleep. I’m doing well here, don’t worry. Have you been listening to Wang Ma? Have you been sneaking junk food? Have you been eating three meals a day on time? Actually... I wanted to say, even though it’s only been a day apart, I still miss you.】

Despite some background noise, Luo Wei clearly heard the last part, "I still miss you."

Her nose instantly felt sour, and her heart felt like it was being torn apart. Oh, the bittersweet wait for a loved one—she finally understood what it felt like!
