Luo Wei's life was vibrant and full of color now, thanks to the company of her little baby. Her body had recovered, so there was no longer a need for a caretaker. The only ones left at home were her, Mo Huai, and Aunt Wang.

Mo Huai had returned to working at the office, following a nine-to-five schedule, always coming home on time to spend time with her and little Yue Yi. He even turned down social engagements or sent Xu Kaifeng in his place. After all, Mo Huai prided himself on being a good family man.

This often made Xu Kaifeng grumble, though he never dared to complain out loud—after all, Mo Huai paid him well.

Luo Wei had just finished feeding little Yue Yi when she glanced at the clock on the wall. Normally, by this time, Mo Huai would be home, but he hadn’t returned yet. Suddenly, she felt a sense of emptiness, a restlessness that made her uneasy.

“Ring—ring—”

Her phone on the table rang. Luo Wei picked it up, and sure enough, it was a call from Mo Huai. She felt the weight in her heart lift.

“When are you coming home, Huai-ge?” Luo Wei answered the call, the words slipping out automatically.

A soft chuckle came from the other end, followed by a pause. “Miss me already?”

“Stop being so full of yourself,” Luo Wei said, denying the truth. “I was just wondering… when will you be back?”

Mo Huai leaned back in his office chair, resting his chin on his hand, looking calm and collected. “Probably later tonight. This project is a bit urgent.”

He was about to say more when Luo Wei interrupted, “Got it. Just make sure you eat, okay? Don’t overwork yourself and ruin your stomach.”

Mo Huai narrowed his eyes with a smile, teasing, “Speaking of which, when are you going to bring me food? Today, Manager Li’s wife delivered lunch to him.”

“Uh…” Luo Wei fell silent for three seconds before replying, “Next time, okay?”

Luo Wei suddenly felt embarrassed. Even though she loved Mo Huai, her own insecurities made it hard for her to express how to love someone.

She secretly made up her mind to bring Mo Huai lunch one day.

During dinner, with Mo Huai absent, Luo Wei found the food tasteless. She only ate a few bites before putting down her chopsticks. Aunt Wang looked at her in surprise. “Weiwei, what's wrong? Did I cook something you don’t like today? Why are you eating so little?”

Luo Wei forced a smile and quickly denied it. “Aunt Wang, the food’s delicious as always. I just ate too much at lunch, so I’m not very hungry now.”

“Really?” Aunt Wang gave her a doubtful glance.

Luo Wei nodded firmly, her eyes sincere and wide as if begging Aunt Wang to believe her. I swear it’s because I’m too full from lunch—not because I miss my man!

After finishing her formula, little Yue Yi dozed off, and Aunt Wang carried her to the nursery. Once the chores were done, Aunt Wang retired to her room as well.

At nine o'clock, Luo Wei, dressed in her cute pajamas, curled up on the sofa watching TV. She kept flipping through channels, though her mind wasn’t focused on the screen. Time passed by slowly. Suddenly, the sound of a car outside the villa caught her attention, and a long-lost smile appeared on her face.

A few moments later, the front door opened. Mo Huai walked in, dressed in a black suit, one hand casually tucked into his pocket. After taking two steps inside, he stopped and glanced deeply at Luo Wei sitting in the living room. He squinted slightly, “Weiwei, still awake?”

Luo Wei cleared her throat and forced an awkward smile. “I’m not sleepy yet… heh.”

Mo Huai lowered his eyes, smiling as he walked over. Because it was nighttime, she could only make out the faint outline of something he was holding. When he got closer, Luo Wei saw that he was carrying a bouquet of roses.

She was momentarily stunned.

“These are for you, for patiently waiting for me to come home,” Mo Huai said with a slight smile, looking rather pleased.

After a long pause, Luo Wei accepted the roses, their fragrance filling the air. “Thank you. Why the sudden flowers? It’s not even Valentine’s Day.”

Though she said this, her heart had already bloomed with joy, feeling sweet and warm inside.

“From now on, if I come home late, I’ll bring you a gift each time. How does that sound?” Mo Huai’s gaze was full of tenderness as he spoke softly.

Luo Wei felt a rush of emotion. Before she could respond, Mo Huai pulled her into his arms. His warm breath brushed against her ear, sending a tingling sensation down her spine.

After a long moment, she heard him whisper, “I’m sorry for being so busy lately.”

Luo Wei paused, her heart filled with guilt. She didn’t want to make him feel torn between his career and her. “It’s okay. I’m doing fine. In fact, I’m thinking about going back to work at the pet shop next week.”

Mo Huai gently released her, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. “I can support you.”

Luo Wei laughed and replied firmly, “I know you, Mo Huai, can take care of me, but I don’t want to be a housewife or a freeloader. I want to have my own career.”

Mo Huai gazed at her intensely, as if she were a delicate treasure. “I could give you half the shares of the Mo Corporation. That way, you’d feel more secure.”

Luo Wei was dumbfounded. They were not on the same page. “No, having your salary for me to manage is already enough. I don’t need shares in your company. You’ve given me plenty of security. I just want to work so I can feel confident standing beside you. Even if I can’t compare to you, I want to earn my own living. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

After Luo Wei finished, she stared blankly at him. After a moment, Mo Huai nodded, still smiling as he silently agreed to her request.

Luo Wei beamed brightly, but Mo Huai’s breath grew warmer, and his gaze became more intense.

She rested her hand on his chest, feeling his rising body heat. “You—”

Before she could finish her sentence, he silenced her with a kiss, soft and sweet, leaving her mind blank.

She let him guide her, leading her into deeper intimacy. Her gaze drifted toward Aunt Wang’s room upstairs, worried she might suddenly appear.

Sensing her distraction, Mo Huai kissed her softly, his voice commanding, “Focus. Aunt Wang won’t come out.”

Luo Wei gave him a puzzled glance. He released her lips and smirked mischievously, brushing her nose lightly. “Didn’t you know? You can’t get distracted during a kiss.”

Luo Wei’s face flushed red, and she shyly hit him. “Isn’t it inappropriate to be in the living room?”

Mo Huai chuckled, then suddenly scooped her up in his arms. Luo Wei clung to his shoulder as he carried her upstairs.

He suavely opened the bedroom door and gently laid her on the bed. His expression turned mischievous, like a devil from the depths of hell.

Lifting her chin, he grinned. “Why are you so shy? Haven’t we done this enough?”

Luo Wei tried to kick him playfully, but before she could, he caught her foot, holding it firmly, trapping her in place.

Then, with a flick of the blanket, he enveloped them both. One by one, their clothes fell away, and the night became filled with warmth and intimacy.
