Luo Qianqian's reputation in Yanjing City had long been infamous. No longer able to latch onto a wealthy man, she wandered through life in a daze, with nothing to do. She still clung to her dreams, hoping that one day she could rise to the top again and become someone important.
That night, as usual, Luo Qianqian dressed provocatively, exposing her long legs and pale swan-like neck as she stood by the roadside, trying to attract customers. The evening wind blew gently, carrying a slight chill. Luo Qianqian pulled her coat tighter and rubbed her hands together for warmth.
A luxury car stopped in front of her, and she stepped forward, her heart sinking at the thought that if she couldn’t get a customer soon, she’d have to sleep on the streets. With a charming smile, she called out sweetly, “Sir, do you need some company?”
But when Luo Qianqian saw the man in front of her, her face turned green.
Chi Yu turned his head and looked at her in shock. “Qianqian, you...?”
Chi Yu was incredulous, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Luo Qianqian’s face went pale, and a cold shiver ran down her spine. “Yu-ge, why are you... here?”
Before Chi Yu could respond, a woman got out of the car, frowning. “Ah Yu, who is this?”
Chi Yu, visibly unsettled, composed himself before introducing them. “This is my fiancĂ©e, Lili. And this... is my friend, Luo Qianqian.”
Luo Qianqian was speechless, unable to believe that Chi Yu was already engaged. Hatred brewed in her eyes.
Lily stepped forward, smiling warmly. “Qianqian, nice to meet you.”
Luo Qianqian clenched her teeth, nearly grinding them into dust. As their eyes met, Lily’s intuition told her that this woman harbored ill intentions toward her fiancĂ©. Feeling a sense of crisis, Lily exchanged a few polite words and then pulled Chi Yu into a nearby restaurant. Luo Qianqian watched them leave, their intimacy infuriating her.
Why was it that everyone else got to be happy, while she was the only one left in misery?
That night, Luo Qianqian had no energy to do business, nor was she in the mood to please any men. She felt as though the world had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute.
The streetlights flickered, casting a cold light on her anxious heart. Suddenly, she felt a murderous aura behind her. A chill crept up her spine as she slowly turned around, her eyes filled with panic.
“Well, I finally found you. Let’s see where you can run now,” sneered a red-haired thug, grinning viciously as he and his gang approached her.
Luo Qianqian’s fear deepened, and she took a few steps back until she had nowhere left to go. Cold sweat trickled down her back. “I... I’m sorry. I’ll repay the money I owe as soon as I can.”
“Soon?” Red Hair raised his voice, smirking lecherously. “You won’t be scared unless we give you something to be afraid of.”
One of his lackeys chimed in, egging him on. “Boss, she’s pretty. We haven’t had a woman in a while. Why not...?”
Luo Qianqian felt sick to her stomach, her face turning as white as a sheet. Looking at the thugs in front of her, nausea surged through her. She had no money, no beauty left, and she certainly wasn’t going to sleep with them to repay her debts.
“I’m sorry. I’ll get you the 200,000 yuan as soon as I can. Just give me more time, please,” Luo Qianqian begged. If she hadn’t clung to the hope of a miracle, she never would’ve borrowed from loan sharks to gamble, and now her once beautiful face was losing its luster.
Red Hair slapped her across the face and threatened, “We’ve given you plenty of chances. Now, with interest, you owe 500,000 yuan. Even selling you wouldn’t cover that much.”
“What?” Luo Qianqian’s eyes widened in disbelief. “I only borrowed it two months ago. How is the interest so high? This isn’t what you said before! I’ll call the police!”
Red Hair laughed heartily, and so did his lackeys. “Call the police? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all year.”
After his laughter subsided, Red Hair’s expression turned lewd. He advanced on Luo Qianqian step by step, tearing off her thin blouse. She panicked and tried to cover her exposed skin with her hands, her face filled with horror.
Red Hair and his thugs ogled her, drooling as they leered at her trembling body. Just then, a sleek car pulled up nearby.
Mo Huai and Xu Kaifeng had just returned from a business trip. Xu Kaifeng was driving, while Mo Huai rested in the backseat with his eyes closed. Xu Kaifeng happened to glance at the corner ahead and noticed the gang harassing a lone woman. His eyes flashed with anger. Picking on a woman—what kind of man does that? Especially several men against one woman.
Xu Kaifeng pulled the car forward a few more steps and stopped. Only then did he realize that the woman was someone he knew.
It was Luo Qianqian.
Mo Huai noticed the car had stopped and opened his eyes, his deep gaze questioning. “What’s going on?”
Xu Kaifeng turned and reported, “Mr. Mo, some street thugs are harassing Luo Qianqian up ahead.”
Mo Huai lowered the window and glanced toward the corner. Sure enough, several thugs were lecherously surrounding Luo Qianqian, who was trapped in a corner, looking pitiful.
Mo Huai felt no emotion at the sight, no reaction at all. After a moment’s hesitation, Xu Kaifeng asked, “Mr. Mo, should we help her?”
Mo Huai thought for a moment. Although he despised Luo Qianqian for her hypocrisy, he still looked down on men who only knew how to bully women.
“Go ahead.”
With that order, Xu Kaifeng elegantly stepped out of the car.
Luo Qianqian, feeling utterly heartbroken and abandoned, looked as though all life had drained from her eyes. Despair clouded her gaze as she awaited her fate.
“Let her go.”
A cold, sharp voice rang out, and Luo Qianqian looked up as if seeing a savior.
The thugs released her and turned around, sneering. “Who do you think you are?”
Xu Kaifeng adjusted his tie and responded calmly, “What kind of men bully women? I’ve already called the police—they’ll be here in about five minutes.”
Red Hair studied Xu Kaifeng closely, finally recognizing him from television. He was Mo Huai’s personal assistant, a genius in the legal world with a razor-sharp mind.
Thinking of this, Red Hair felt a shiver run down his spine. He hadn’t had much education and didn’t understand the law. Having just gotten out of prison, he had no intention of going back.
With graceful movements, Xu Kaifeng raised his wrist to check his watch, starting a countdown aloud. The gang, led by Red Hair, paled and, feeling weak, muttered a cowardly threat before scrambling away in a hurry.
“You… you just wait!”
Luo Qianqian watched the thugs flee in panic, still shaken. She called out to Xu Kaifeng, who was about to leave.
“Mr. Xu, thank you.”
Without replying, Xu Kaifeng walked back to the car, opened the door, and sat inside. “Mr. Mo, it’s done.”
“Mm.”
Suddenly, Luo Qianqian ran over, spotting Mo Huai in the back seat. Her gaze lit up with curiosity and excitement. Could it be that Mo Huai had ordered his assistant to save her?
Realizing this, Luo Qianqian smiled smugly.
“Mr. Mo, thank you for saving me just now.” Luo Qianqian tapped on the car window, feeling certain that Luo Wei was too dull to compare with her. Mo Huai must have grown tired of Luo Wei.
Luo Qianqian had always been confident in her looks, believing herself to be a hundred times more beautiful than Luo Wei.
Mo Huai gave her a cold, disdainful glance, his voice as icy as ever. “Let go.”
Luo Qianqian, her hand still on the car window, refused to let them leave. “Mr. Mo, I…” I really like you, and I’m willing to do anything for you.
She couldn’t bring herself to say what was in her heart, so she just looked pitifully at the man before her.
Mo Huai’s eyes were filled with disgust. Clearly losing patience, he shot a cold glance at Xu Kaifeng, his gaze saying: See? This is what happens when you meddle!
Seeing that she wouldn’t let go, Mo Huai’s eyes darkened with a dangerous glint, and he firmly closed the window, forcing Luo Qianqian to pull her hand away in pain.
Mo Huai gave the order, muttering in annoyance, “Drive. What bad luck.”
“Got it,” Xu Kaifeng answered, stepping hard on the gas to speed away from the unpleasant scene.
