The morning light was faint, and soft rays of sunshine streamed through the hotel window.

Gu Chuyi's eyes slowly opened to a narrow slit, still drowsy from sleep. She looked down and saw a strong, muscular arm draped over her slender waist.

She was just about to push his hand away when the man suddenly let out a cold snort, pulling her tightly into his embrace. She froze, not daring to move, afraid of enduring another round of "torment." It was said that a man’s desires were strongest in the morning.

She tilted her head up, staring at the man holding her. Inwardly, Gu Chuyi muttered, I’m doomed. I shouldn’t have been tempted by his looks. How embarrassing!

Taking advantage of the moment when the man turned over, Gu Chuyi quickly and skillfully freed herself from his grip, swiftly slipping out from under the covers.

After tidying herself up, Gu Chuyi tiptoed out of the room, gently closing the door behind her. Before leaving, she sneaked one last glance at the man still peacefully asleep.

"I’m out of here, bye-bye," she muttered to herself.

As usual, after every "incident," Gu Chuyi was always the first to wake up in the morning and quietly escape from the hotel alone.

Every time, Fu Chen would later question her, "Why do you always leave when I’m still asleep? Was it too easy for you last night, hmm?"

Gu Chuyi would laugh it off, then quickly hang up the phone. Growing up with him, she thought, Even rabbits don’t eat the grass around their burrow, so why did I end up entangled with Fu Chen?

Since that night when alcohol led to an accidental hookup, their relationship had undergone a significant change. Fu Chen even set her favorite song, My All, as his ringtone.

Once, she had secretly glanced at Fu Chen’s phone and saw that he had set a photo of her making a funny face as his wallpaper. Her face instantly flushed as red as the morning sun, the embarrassment even reaching her toes.

Gu Chuyi left the hotel, flagged down a random taxi on the street, and headed home.

Once home, she snuck in quietly, but a familiar, cold voice suddenly sounded behind her.

"Where were you? Why didn’t you come home last night?"

Gu Chuyi turned around and, sure enough, saw Gu Xiu glaring at her. She was at a loss for words.

"I…," Gu Chuyi stammered, but then an idea flashed in her mind. "I was working late!"

"Oh, really?" A dangerous glint flashed in Gu Xiu’s eyes as he raised an eyebrow. "But I called your boss today, and he said you clocked out at 5 PM yesterday."

Gu Chuyi was speechless, feeling like a mute who had to swallow bitter medicine. Even though… she had just played an adult game, how could she explain that to her dear brother?

No, it should be an explanation. After all, they were both adults now, so he should understand.

"Speak, or else I’ll tell Mom and Dad," Gu Xiu’s cold voice made her shiver. She immediately stepped forward, clutching his sleeve and acting coy.

"Brother, I’m an adult, not a child. What I do is my own business. Even if you’re my brother, you can’t control me too much, right?"

As she spoke, she kept stealing glances at Gu Xiu. If she noticed that he was about to lose his temper, she would immediately surrender.

But to her surprise, Gu Xiu didn’t react the way she expected. He narrowed his eyes slightly, raised his hand to touch his chin, and asked with interest, "Are you in a relationship?"

Gu Chuyi froze. In a relationship? The thought puzzled her. Fu Chen treated her like a girlfriend, caring for her in every possible way, never contradicting her.

But Fu Chen had never said the words "I love you." Not even during their intimate moments.

"No," Gu Chuyi answered truthfully after thinking it over. If he hadn’t said "I love you," how could they be considered a couple? Their unclear relationship was nothing more than a fling.

"Hmph," Gu Xiu snorted coldly, pressing further, "Then where were you last night?"

"I was at Weiwei’s place. Believe it or not." Gu Chuyi crossed her arms and maintained a stiff face.

No sooner had she spoken than Gu Xiu elegantly pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

Gu Chuyi’s breath caught, and her face turned green.

As the call connected, Gu Xiu’s gentle voice echoed, his gaze coldly fixed on her, as sharp as frost.

"Weiwei, it’s Gu Xiu. Was Gu Chuyi with you last night?"

Gu Chuyi’s heart clenched, her entire body tense, her senses on high alert, as if she had four ears listening.

Gu Xiu clicked his tongue against his cheek, his expression unreadable. Gu Chuyi silently prayed, Please, dear friend, understand me. Don’t say I wasn’t with you last night. She clasped her hands in prayer, pleading to Saint Mary for protection.

"Yes."

"Alright, I see."

"Thank you, Weiwei."

After the call ended, Gu Xiu let out a light laugh, took two steps forward, and affectionately ruffled her hair.

"Silly girl, next time you stay at Weiwei’s and don’t come home, just tell me in advance. With Mom and Dad out of the country for business, I’m the head of the family now. Otherwise, I’ll worry, okay?"

Gu Xiu’s tone was earnest.

Gu Chuyi felt a surge of relief. Did I just get away with it? Weiwei really understands me.

"Brother, I know you care about me. Next time I won’t leave you worrying," Gu Chuyi said, putting on her best pitiful face, pretending to be the picture of remorse.

"Good. Now go freshen up for breakfast."

Gu Chuyi dashed back to her room, shut the door tightly, and pulled out her phone to call Luo Wei.

Her friend picked up immediately, clearly anticipating the call. Before Luo Wei could speak, Gu Chuyi rushed to say, "Weiwei, thank you so much! I didn’t come home last night and got caught by my brother this morning. If my dad found out I didn’t come home, he’d break my legs. You know how scary my dad is."

Chuyi rambled breathlessly, her nerves still frayed.

After patiently listening to her rant, Luo Wei finally asked, "Chuyi, where did you go last night?"

Uh… Chuyi was momentarily speechless.

Gu Chuyi and Luo Wei were best friends, so lying didn’t feel right. After a long pause, she confessed, "I was with Fu Chen last night."

"With him? What do you mean by 'with'?"

Chuyi dropped her head in defeat and flopped onto her soft bed, telling Luo Wei the whole story in detail.

"What?!" Luo Wei yelled into the phone, completely stunned.

Chuyi frowned and held the phone a good distance from her ear to avoid being deafened by her friend’s reaction.

"Calm down, calm down," Chuyi sighed. "I don’t know how it turned out this way either."

"This… this sounds exactly like what happened with me and Mo Huai! You and I both had one-night stands, but I think Fu Chen is great. He’s a star, the cream of the crop, and there are countless women in Beijing who would die to date him. Why don’t you consider it?"

As a self-proclaimed love expert, Luo Wei gave her analysis, logical and convincing.

"That’s what’s so annoying! He’s practically a god, so why would he be interested in me? We’ve known each other for over 20 years. He didn’t like me before, so why now? Maybe he’s just playing around."

Chuyi buried her face in her pillow, feeling frustrated. Why is love so complicated? It’s even harder than making money!
