Luo Wei curled up on the sofa. After putting the baby to sleep in the nursery, she finally had some rare free time. One of her hobbies was reading novels.

Luo Wei read enthusiastically, thinking to herself, how could the stories online be so similar to her own experience? Mistakenly entering the wrong room, a passionate one-night stand leading to an unexpected pregnancy—she could predict the rest of the plot without even thinking. She sighed inwardly; after all, clichés really do capture people's hearts.

However, she considered herself lucky. Unlike the dramatic conflicts and mother-in-law battles in online novels, Mo Huai loved her as if she were his life. He would do anything for her, so what more could she ask for?

Ring ring

The sound of her phone interrupted her thoughts. Luo Wei set down her e-reader and glanced at the screen. It was Gu Chuyi calling.

"Hey, darling, what's up?" Luo Wei answered cheerfully, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

"Guess what Fu Chen said to me at the restaurant tonight? You’ll never guess." Gu Chuyi’s voice sparkled with excitement, her heart racing as she still couldn't believe Fu Chen actually liked her.

Luo Wei cleared her throat, playing along. "What did he say?"

"He confessed to me! Haha, you didn’t see that coming, did you?" Gu Chuyi’s voice was filled with excitement, like a little angel.

"Totally expected."

"You guessed? How did you figure it out? I must be such a fool, completely clueless."

"From the first time you met, on your brother’s birthday. The way Fu Chen looked at you—his eyes were full of love and affection. Come on, if that wasn’t a secret crush, what was it?" Luo Wei teased, her eyes glinting with amusement.

Gu Chuyi clicked her tongue twice, unable to resist praising her. "As expected, Luo Wei, the prophet."

"So, did you say yes?"

"Of course."

Luo Wei inwardly rolled her eyes. "You gave in so easily? Don’t you know how to play hard to get with men? How could you be so naive?"

"Oh, come on, I was so nervous I couldn’t even think straight. I wanted to reject him, but I just couldn’t, so I had to say yes," Gu Chuyi replied, sounding bashful but secretly delighted.

"By the way, how’s Fu Chen in, you know, that department?" Luo Wei teased with a playful grin.

"Oh, you should ask your own Mo Huai. He’s Fu Chen’s cousin, after all. You’ve tried Mo Huai; you should be able to make a pretty good guess."

Luo Wei was caught off guard and responded awkwardly, "I wouldn’t know."

"You don’t know? Well, why don’t you find out tonight?"

Luo Wei, intending to tease Gu Chuyi, found herself at a loss for words. As they joked, Luo Wei suddenly felt a blanket drape over her. She turned her head and saw Mo Huai staring at her with a dark, brooding expression.

Sensing trouble, Luo Wei quickly ended the call. "Chuyi, I’ve got something to take care of. Let’s talk later."

Mo Huai, freshly showered, was now in a gray pajama set, the deep V-neck revealing his sexy collarbones, wide shoulders, narrow waist, and well-defined abs. Luo Wei swallowed instinctively, secretly licking her lips as Mo Huai sat down next to her, raising an eyebrow. "When did Gu Yi start dating my cousin?"

Luo Wei was dumbfounded. How had he been standing behind her without her noticing? Did he walk without making any noise? Why did he hear that?

A flood of questions swirled in her mind, leaving her completely baffled.

"Uh, yeah," she replied awkwardly with a forced laugh.

Mo Huai simply grunted, saying nothing more.

After a moment, Mo Huai leaned closer, his sandalwood scent filling her senses. His dark eyes gleamed as his lips curved into a teasing smile. "You don’t know about my skills?"

Luo Wei felt as if she’d been struck by lightning, frozen in place. She screamed internally—he really did have super hearing! From now on, she’d have to gossip far away from him, or he’d overhear everything. So devious!

"Hehe."

"Say it."

Luo Wei steadied herself, grinning obsequiously. "I was just kidding. You took it seriously, huh? Super hearing."

She emphasized those last words, biting them out one by one.

"Kidding? Why do I get the feeling you don’t respect my skills? Otherwise, why wouldn’t you brag to others about them, hmm?"

The pressure around her seemed to drop, a cold breeze brushing against her back.

Here we go again! Another Fu Chen-type reaction—no wonder they say, birds of a feather flock together.

Luo Wei felt utterly defeated inside.

"Of course not, you’re the best! In my heart, you’ll always be number one. You’re brave, handsome, gentle, and thoughtful. And as for your skills, well, they’re top-notch!"

After a torrent of compliments, Mo Huai’s angry expression softened. Luo Wei’s heart soared—praise always worked wonders with men.

Mo Huai cleared his throat, standing up and looking down at her with a teasing smirk. "Practice is the only way to prove the truth."

Before Luo Wei could react, Mo Huai scooped her up in his arms and strode toward the master bedroom on the second floor.

Luo Wei was mortified. "This is not how you practice!"

——

The next day.

Dragging her exhausted body downstairs, Luo Wei spotted Mo Huai sipping coffee leisurely, reading a financial magazine. She shot him a fierce glare, cursing silently: Beast.

No, worse than a beast—the king of beasts!

To prove his skills, Mo Huai had unleashed his full arsenal, tormenting her with endless passion.

Luo Wei: Baby’s heart is full of bitterness...

Mo Huai elegantly sipped his coffee, glancing at her with a smug look in his eyes. "Good morning, Wei Wei."

Luo Wei snorted and turned her head away, planning to give him the cold shoulder for a while. Let him taste some cold, hard rejection.

With that thought, a wicked smile crept across her face. Mo Huai raised an eyebrow, sensing something amiss. "What scheme are you cooking up now?"

Luo Wei ignored him, not sparing him a glance. Cold war time—it’s all about freezing him out.

Mo Huai smiled faintly, recalling the passion of the previous night. With the one you love, there was no such thing as getting tired.

"Wha—Wei Wei, why do you have such dark circles under your eyes? Didn’t you sleep well last night?"

Aunt Wang had just finished feeding the baby and was about to sit down for breakfast when she saw Luo Wei’s panda-like dark circles and asked, curious.

Luo Wei looked up, her expression pitiful. "Aunt Wang, didn’t you know there was a wild beast last night?"

"A wild beast?" Aunt Wang furrowed her brow, touching Luo Wei’s forehead to check for a fever. "My dear, we live in a peaceful society now. How could there be a wild beast? Haha."

Luo Wei forced an awkward smile, nodding seriously. "There was."

To be precise, it was the "Mo beast."

Aunt Wang looked nervous, wondering what had gotten into the young mistress. She glanced at Luo Wei, then at the man beside her.

Mo Huai stifled a laugh, taking a moment to regain his composure before saying casually, "Aunt Wang, could you make me another cup of coffee?"

"Of course," Aunt Wang replied, still confused, before heading to the kitchen.
